Senior Mechanical Engineer / Lead

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the mechanical engineering team. You will be responsible for the development and preparation of innovative products, collaborating closely with R&D to introduce new ideas and technologies. You’ll work alongside the product manager to build and refine mechanical roadmaps, reporting to the innovation manager while engaging with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and efficient design process.

A key aspect of your role will be to promote teamwork and collaboration across departments, driving the successful delivery of projects. You will also optimize and develop new processes to improve overall operations, ensuring that your team delivers comprehensive production documentation, including drawings, BOMs, manuals, and testing procedures.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage a team of mechanical and production engineers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Establish and implement best practices for mechanical engineering, covering:
  • Mechanical prototyping with SolidWorks.
  • Simplification and standardization of part and assembly processes.
  • Efficient management of master data and processes (e.g., PLM, engineering change management).
  • Translate high-level product features into detailed technical plans, including material selection and design specifications.
  • Oversee and participate in engineering changes, ensuring they are executed to high standards and within deadlines.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address mechanical production issues and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Work closely with procurement to:
  • Resolve supplier-related challenges and ensure product quality.
  • Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities, such as subcontracting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, including significant experience in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software, particularly with sheet metal.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
