The work schedule for this position is Full Time (38 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (15 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties
Serves as senior policy advisor and analyst (Food and Drug Administration Advisor/“FDA Advisor”) for the Director and Deputy Director of the Europe Office of the FDA. The FDA Advisor will analyze EU policy and provide expert advice on complex EU decision-making on all FDA-regulated products to include: drugs, biologics, medical devices, tobacco, food safety and veterinary medicine with the objective of promoting and improving public health through innovation and product/food safety. He/she will develop strategies and guidelines to prevent adverse public health impacts related to FDA-regulated products and facilitate U.S.-EU cooperation toward third countries on public health issues of mutual concern. He/she will provide regular strategic assessments and advice on developments in EU policy and ongoing EU debates over legislation that affect FDA-regulated products to senior officials at the FDA. He/she will maintain a broad range of contacts in all EU institutions, including at senior levels, with a view to gathering upstream information in order to react to any potential EU measures which would affect FDA-regulated products.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 4 years of experience working at an EU institution or for an organization that deals regularly with EU public health or regulatory policy issues.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: A thorough knowledge of modern economic and political economy principles and theory. A thorough knowledge of identified policy areas, and familiarity with other high profile issues on transatlantic economic agenda.
University degree in International Affairs, public health, law, or related.
LANGUAGE: Fluency in English. Good working knowledge in another EU language.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to independently plan, organize and execute projects. Ability to draft in English - with speed and clarity - a variety of written reports and analyses. Ability to effectively communicate in English, including to provide targeted oral briefings.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
