Volvo Cars is on an ambitious journey to modernize our current Digital landscape. We are now looking for a Senior Software Engineer for Inplant logistics systems to strengthen our team with skills that help us to strengthen and harmonize our digital landscape within global material handling.

What You’ll Do

In general, the Software Engineer for In plant logistics is part of an agile team that provides the digital functions required by the business. This means that the software engineer takes part in both discussing and understanding business requirements, interpreting the requirements into digital functions as well as making sure implemented functions always works as expected.

In plant logistics systems secures our core mechanism of supplying goods to line, enabling the lean logic for line replenishment and smart warehousing. The main responsibility is to ensure that the technical solutions developed within an application are technically sustainable and consistent with VCC application strategy.

The senior software engineer will be a core member in the team to harmonize the global mater handling landscape
  • Design solutions for enabling and improving our global material handling processes
  • Transform legacy application to modern solutions and harmonize our global landscape within IPL (CRAM, MAS, CHIMAS)
  • Design solutions for enabling Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
  • Providing expert level of support and contribute to boosting and coaching the team to continually increase knowledge, competence, performance, and innovation
  • Partner with suppliers, architects, engineers, developers, and internal stakeholders to provide expert guidance on upcoming and innovative technologies and standardization.
  • Leading and performing concept studies, pre-studies, including problem/opportunity analysis.
  • Facilitating workshops with stakeholders for business modelling, need analysis and backlog creation. Understanding the customer needs to bring value to the organization and use agile methodology (e.g., backlog refinement) to collaborate with the development team.
  • Providing input for the design and construction of test cases and scenarios and help validate executed test results.
Do you fit the profile?

You are an senior engineer that has at least BSc, or equivalent experience in a relevant field, relevant Business Analysis certifications and formal Business Analysis trainings in the in plant logistics field and understanding of supply chain and manufacturing processes. You are fluent in English, both verbally and written.

You have education and some experience in agile development practices and collaboration in Azure DevOps

As a person you enjoy working in a collaborative and empowered agile team environment. You are s elf-motivated, well organized and result oriented. You can build good relations with executives, colleagues, and project teams and you feel comfortable working within complex and global organizations. You can work under rapidly changing conditions and have the capability to identify, mitigate and decide on solutions when facing obstacles. You have an analytical mindset and the ability to think ahead. You are communicative and effective in solving conflicts with an ability to develop trust among stakeholders.

You should have a deep understanding of global material handling processes and applications and understand how all these things work together.

You And Your Skills.

We are looking for someone who has knowledge about databases, development platforms (java, Fortran, …) agile processes (Safe / Scrum / ADO) but also about backlog management, strategic planning, business relationship management, problem analysis and business modelling. Knowledge about the current material handling solutions (Cram,MAS,Chimas,AMA ...) in combination with a deep architectural understanding is a must. Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills. A bility to convey ideas in written form and the capability to share those ideas verbally in a clear, concise manner to both technical specialists and people without technical knowledge. Good facilitation, negotiation, documentation, and specification skills. Excellent ability to pinpoint value creating activities connected towards a vision. Coaching of new developpers by applying program knowledge in combination with business knowledge is a must.
