Purpose of the job

The purpose of the job is to improve purchasing’s effectiveness and supplier performance to support organizational goals and objectives. The technical buyer ensures that all the appropriate internal and external quality requirements regarding local product surveying are followed. He/she ensures annual improvement in the total cost, quality and service.

Principal activities and duties

• Providing purchasing support by ensuring all required materials are procured in a timely and cost effective manner as well as ensuring high quality.
• Accountable for receipt and control of goods delivered, quality, invoice and audits
• Supporting New product Development. Working closely with engineers and suppliers to control product cost, performance and meet project timelines.
• Maintaining purchasing data (purchase prices, revisions, suppliers…)
• Managing the supplier performance
• Limitation of number of returns to suppliers
• Improve service level for number of lines delivered on time
• Improve service level for number of lines delivered with correct quantity
• Negotiating contracts
• Margin increase (lower price)
• Lead time reduction
• Minimum order quantity/reduction cost
• Quality
• Identifying, analyzing, and developing a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future procurement needs. Acquiring a good knowledge of the suppliers in the market.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position requirements

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Management or equivalent
• Technical background (high technician / engineer fluid, mechanic)
• Experience in purchasing (>3years)
• Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Fluent English, German and French (spoken and written)
• Excellent negotiating and communication skills
• High tolerance for change. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
