Job Description

As a member of the Tessenderlo Innovation Center,

  • You learn current process technologies within the company in detail, identify and lead process improvements for existing products in terms of output, efficiency, safety, quality and cost;
  • You provide detailed answers to process technology questions from the different Business Units, supported by our operational teams;
  • You scout for, test & support implementation of new technologies in the broad fields in which Tessenderlo Group is active, such as the valorisation of proteins and fats for food, pharma and health markets (e.g. gelatin, hydrolyzed collagen and proteins, petfood ingredients, …), the production of top quality fertilizers and crop nutrition solutions for sustainable and organic agriculture and of products providing industrial solutions;
  • You take the lead in the design and construction of new technical and piloting installation(s), scaling-up and de-risking of the technologies before transfer/implementation in the BU factories;
  • You build up the know-how and experience to do a solid, well-founded knowledge transfer from an R&D project to implementation in de BU;
  • You participate in hazard and operability reviews of process installations and manage all safety issues related to pilot equipment modifications;
  • You analyze technology gaps within our company and push for potential solutions;
  • You investigate new manufacturing processes, build a network with technology providers and academia and analyze competitive technologies;
  • You are co-responsible for managing and coordinating the operational teams and corresponding daily tasks.

Qualifications
  • You have a Master/PhD of Science in (Bio)chemical Engineering, a Master of Bioscience Engineering (“Biosysteemtechniek”) or related degree
  • Having 3+ years of experience in engineering/process technology is a plus
  • You are an excellent communicator and are capable to connect with/at all levels in the organization
  • You are eager to combine hands-on field work with desk research
  • You are capable of working independently and are result-driven
  • You have a curious mindset and are triggered by transferring knowledge into change and innovation
  • You are capable of coping with uncertainty related to our R&D activities and multi-tasking
  • You have notions of project management
  • You speak English and Dutch fluently
  • You will be located in our office at Tessenderlo
