Test technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Test Technician at Septentrio you are responsible of the technical and hands on aspects of the tests that are conducted by our test engineers and our application engineers. This means, amongst others, that you are the technical owner of the test vehicle used for product testing and validation. You prepare and execute (driving) tests, gathering the data that allows them to ensure product quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

From the start, your responsibilities will be following:

• Create mechanical and electronic test setups in the test vehicle.
• Measure and document test vehicle setups.
• Execute driving tests to gather data, mostly in Belgium and very occasionally in neighboring countries.
• Verify the data and store it in shared repositories.
• Maintain and install new equipment in the test vehicle and, test workbench(es).
• Propose recommendations to improve the test equipment.
• Gather data in customer-specific conditions for troubleshooting or pre-sales.
• Contribute to the execution of data-collection campaign for competitive benchmarking.

Once you get familiar with all these topics, following responsibilities will be added to the list:

• Expand the testing capacity by creating new platforms (e.g. adapt simple robots to host receivers, assemble a bicycle-lab etc).
• Perform basic data manipulation, such as re-processing, conversion and diagnostics.
• Take up the role of dispatcher, creating salesforce tickets for external and internal technical request. Grow into handling the internal technical support.

YOU

• Have a bachelor level in a technical education (mechanical / electromechanical / electrical).
• Are a handy person, familiar with mechanical and electrical tools, who can layout and create test setups. This may go from soldering a cable to installing metal plates, antennas, routers, sensors, power supplies, etc.
• Have an eye for detail and work accurately, guaranteeing millimeter-level precision in your setups.
• Are comfortable with new technical equipment and documentation.
• Are comfortable with computers and Microsoft Office.
• Have a driving license and are willing to drive several hours per day.
• English is the company language. You have a professional level that is sufficient to read technical documentation and for oral and email communication.
