The J&J R&D Procurement Category is recruiting for a Category Manager, Medical Safety and Pharmacovigilance to be located in Beerse, Belgium; Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; or Spring House, PA.

The Category Manager, Medical Safety and Pharmacovigilance (MSPV), will improve upon category strategies, drive innovation opportunities, and partner closely with the business. The Category Manager will build on existing close relationships with internal partners and suppliers to foster a collaborative business environment. The Category Manager will negotiate Master Service Agreements, Work Orders, and identify associated process improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities Include
  • Executing category strategies in partnership with the business, modify strategies as needed.
  • Executing against sourcing needs to drive value.
  • Negotiating global and local contracts, as applicable, or partnering with Supplier Contracting Services to deliver such contracts against business needs and timelines (Master Service Agreements, Single Service Agreements, Work Orders, etc.).
  • Identifying and creating efficient contracting processes to reduce cycle times for the business.
  • Providing input to and participating in supplier Governance Meetings.
  • Supporting global category initiatives to drive savings, identify enhanced flexibility/service offerings and opportunities for innovation, and ensuring suppliers continuously meet the needs of the business.
  • Forging and maintaining relationships across business partners across each of the three sectors globally.
  • Ensuring Category Excellence and ESP principles are followed, as well as Procurement and J&J processes and policies.
  • Partnering with stakeholders globally and maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers, Legal, Healthcare Compliance and other identified stakeholders to effectively execute the category strategies.
  • Additional projects and responsibilities will also be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a BA/BS is required in business, life sciences or related field is required. Advanced degree, such as an MBA, Ph.D., JD, etc. is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in a business environment is required with a minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement or sourcing as a user or provider.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical R&D industry and a working knowledge of clinical trials is preferred.
  • Experience with presenting to teams of various sizes including influencing a team or leadership when needed preferred.
  • Experience with closely partnering internally and externally is required.
  • Experience with contract negotiations and supplier relationship management (formally and informally) is required
  • Experience with Preferred Plus or other Efficient Buying Channels is preferred
  • Experience with analyzing moderately complex data is preferred
  • Experience with leading cross functional teams is required
  • Demonstrated continuous growth and learning and application of the learnings is required
  • Clear communication skills are required
  • Travel of approximately 10%.
  • This position can be based in Beerse, Belgium; Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; or Spring House, PA.
