For our Cathodic Protection Operations Department at our office located in Anderlecht ( see the map here ) we’re looking for a Cathodic Protection Supervisor (m/f/x).

Cathodic protection is a technique for protecting underground steel pipe structures from external corrosion and is therefore an essential component in maintaining the integrity of our pipeline network. Use of cathodic protection is constantly evolving, so technologies and methods are always being aligned with the latest developments.

Your respon­sibilities

After a training period, you will be responsible for operational cathodic protection (CP) activities in Wallonia. You will manage the "South" operational team to ensure the high-quality, safe and efficient operation of the CP system (which keeps the underground infrastructure of the Belgian natural gas transmission grid in good condition). This will involve:
  • Ensuring the safe and efficient implementation of CP activities (assessments, projects, specific investigations, etc.) according to established priorities
  • Managing the six-person team and taking care of planning/scheduling and work distribution; organising team meetings for optimal coordination and information distribution
  • Supporting the CP technicians and monitoring their activities in order to achieve a high-quality, solution-focused outcome, including the associated administration and reporting; you will also help with the ongoing training of team members
  • Ensuring good, cross-cutting cooperation within the team, with colleagues from the other operational and support services as well as with external parties (end consumers, other pipeline operators, etc.)
  • Reporting to the CP OPS Manager and providing the necessary information for drawing up indicators
  • Helping to develop (or monitor?) safety policy and technical developments in your field of expertise and in the organisation, thereby also contributing to the development of your own role

In carrying out your duties, you will show the required flexibility and alternate office work with necessary visits in the field. You are willing to make frequent trips to and within the Walloon region. You will be provided with a company vehicle for this purpose. Your official place of work will be Anderlecht, but working at one of our local offices may also be possible.

  • A bachelor’s degree in electromechanical engineering, electricity or electronics, or equivalent experience – in-depth knowledge and extensive experience (at least 5-10 years) in cathodic protection is a must
  • An affinity for ICT applications and a firm grasp of MS Office as a basic requirement, as well as an ability to get to grips quickly with new applications (SAP, specific tools, etc.)
  • The ability to independently lead, motivate and support a team and foster a good team spirit – leadership experience would be an asset
  • An ability to be open to and support new developments within the department and Fluxys and a willingness to take the initiative to implement these within the team, in terms of technology, personnel and organisation
  • An ability to work accurately and in a cross-cutting and well-structured way with the necessary attention to safety and organisation
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, and a willingness to take on administrative tasks
  • Fluent French, ideally with a basic grasp of Dutch and/or English
