Job Purpose

You are responsible for advising the company and employees on health and safety legislation and compliance. You develop and implement company policies, plans and professional standards, meeting any changes to legal or operational requirements.

As permanent member of the Rixensart technical support team you contribute to the decision-making process and promote continuous EHS performance improvement.

Your Responsibilities

• Implement all the safety advisors’ missions, as defined in the Belgian regulations in Rix site, under the responsibility of the EHS Senior Manager Support Services,
• You cover the following areas: Chemicals, allergen substances,dust & fibers, fumes, noise, vibration, extreme temperatures, electro-magnetic field exposure, Ionising and non–ionising radiation including radioprotection.
• You implement and demonstrate that management system is under control :
  
  • Chemical : mapping of risks, MSDS, eSDS, …)
  • Noise : noise mapping,
  • Electro-magnetic field mapping, …,
    
• You support the employer in identification of risks linked to REACh regulation (Downstream user evaluation, Business continuity risks, SVHC’s, …) and propose mitigation measures,
• You ensure regulatory watch on your field of expertize.
• You inspect regularly the workplace regularly for health hazards and risks,
• You investigate employee complaints concerning health issue in connexion with the workplace,
• You investigate work related Health incidents covered by his/her field of expertise,
• You carry out Occupational Hygiene monitoring where necessary to verify new control measures, to monitoring the effectiveness of existing control, to investigate reported concerns or to ensure compliance with local regulatory,
• You provide advice and recommendations to the site ensure compliance to GSK standards and Belgium regulations, taking in account the business needs, monitor the adherence,
• You share and adopt best practices, and contribute to the development of the GSK EHS excellence
• You seek for expertise in the EHS shared services as appropriate. Work in partnership with the occupational health and environmental services and experts,
• You identify safety training needs of all employees and provide that training through in-house resources or external consultancies,
• You identify, investigate and report on compliance breaches, emergencies, serious incidents, injuries,
• You collaborate with and support the EHS site representative for all site related issues, including the emergency response as required,
• You prepare the site in any EHS audits by relevant corporate functions, insurers or regulatory enforcement authorities
  
  

Why you?

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

• Master in Chemistry or Biochemistry degree,
• Registered safety advisor training according to Belgium Regulations (level 1 or 2),
• Knowledge of EU / Belgium EHSS Directives and Regulations
• At least 5 years professional experience with at least 3 years in similar businesses (biotech, pharma, food industry)
• Demonstrate fluency in spoken and written English and French
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics it would be a plus:

• Industrial Hygienist diploma is a plus
• Experience in managing EHS in a large and comparable organization
• Impact and Influence capability for management teams
• Pragmatic approach
