DHL Express is seeking a Claims & Risk Specialist for its office in Diegem, Belgium. As a Claims & Risk Specialist your role will be to find and maintain a balance between customer expectations and the interests of ACS, remain abreast of internal ACS business developments / organization and the external claims and risk environment in areas such as International Air Law, maintain good relations with Regional ACS Directors, Sr. Operations Management, and our underwriters, to create a culture of risk awareness and find a compromise where divergent interests arise.

• Process claims with external parties: Customers, General Sales Agents, brokers, lawyers, insurance companies, recovery agents, and commercial carrier representatives
• Initiate consultations with Aviation Legal for certain legal cases with an estimated final settlement plus legal costs, below the insurance policy deductible
• Ensure the distribution of Master Air Waybills for European Air Transport and provide the regions with end user support with regards to the management of their ranges. Provide the appropriate access to new users
• Contribute and assist in determining and continuously developing and improving the overall ACS claims process and the specific strategies to follow in particular cases within the context of different changing legal and commercial environments
• Ensure there are enough ranges in the Internet pool, monitor the working of the system and take corrective action in case a user makes an error
• This role requires good people skills as ACS Claims & Risk relies heavily on the cooperation of various diverse teams globally and our claimants must be dealt with tactfully

• Knowledge of the International Air Law Conventions, Protocols and jurisprudence
• Thorough understanding of overall shipment movement processes
• Knowledge and experience of security concepts in a multimodal transportation environment
• Effective and persuasive negotiation and presentation skills
• Ability to communicate effectively at differing levels with external and internal customers
• Resolute integrity and confidentiality
• Well organized
• Proven experience in establishing working relationships and developing personal contacts in a cross-functional and cross-cultural environment
• Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and translate this into practical action
• Language proficiency in English is essential, any other languages are a valuable asset
• 3 years of Risk and Claims experience in the Aviation industry
• Educated to university degree level or equivalent in experience
