Claim Manager.


TASKS:

In addition to tendering and negotiating contracts, the Group Procurement Department of teh company also ensures a process that ensures that the contracts executed as agreed by actively managing issues and relationship between customer and supplier.


The Claim Management Unit within the Group Procurement Department is a central role in the management of the relationships with the suppliers and more specifically with the contractors for investment projects over the complete project life cycle.
The Claim Manger will be involved from the fare beginning of the project (incl. preparation of the tender and contract documents, negotiation, etc.) but mainly in the execution phase.

During the execution phase of major investment projects (Large Projects), the Contract Manager is responsible, together with the Project Manager, to manage the agreed contracts with the suppliers in terms of performance, costs, handling of claims and all commercial & legal aspects.
He/she is supported in his/her tasks by the project team and the company lawyers or other relevant departments in the company.

Main tasks of the Claim Manager:

  • Support the Package Manager/Project Leader in all contractual and commercial aspects to ensure that the construction project is successful at all levels of project lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage commercial project strategies.
  • Manage contract risks, disputes and resolution.
  • Manage contract deliverables on time, quality & cost incl. reporting.
  • Handle and proactive managing of variations, obstructions & claims.
  • Drafting and manage the commercial project correspondence and documentation.
  • Preparation of management- and status reports.
  • Moderating the interfaces between supplier and the teams especially in escalated situation.
  • Claim tracking and continuous proceeding of disputed litigation in close cooperation with legal and project management.

PROFILE:

  • Master with a technical (civil or industrial engineer, ...), commercial or legal orientation.
  • Independent working style and ability to deal with conflicts is mandatory.
  • A professional experience linked to the tasks description as it is expected the candidate can be operational within a short period (max. 1 month); The candidate will be trained by a Claim Manager (mentor), local technical project teams and with whom he/she will work together.
  • Interest for large investment projects in the energy and/or the offshore sector.
  • Experience in following areas is an asset:
    • Offshore investment projects (platforms, offshore cable laying, ...);
    • Negotiation of Turnkey/EPC contracts (FIDIC, ...);
    • Contract dispute & resolution.
  • Dutch: good level spoken and written.
  • English: excellent level spoken and written.
  • French: nice to have but not mandatory.

WORK LOCATION:

Brussels with 2-3 days per month abroad (mainly in Germany - Berlin).
