Function:

As an experienced data scientist, you draw relevant insights from the huge amount of data Colruyt Group disposes of. You make statistical models and you give strategic advice to our different retail brands. The result of your work: an even better service tailored to our customers.

What will you do specifically?

• Data science is part of Colruyt Group’s Business Analytics & Insights department. This department takes the lead in the further professionalisation of all domains with regard to the efficient management and use of data in the decision processes. You will work in an environment where you can confer with colleagues who are specialised in data management, data security, business intelligence & reporting, GDPR, etc.
• As a data scientist, you work with 30 complementary colleagues on a whole range of projects in which you come into contact with new techniques and technologies. We also encourage you to look for new methods and techniques with the team in order to increase the group’s knowledge and skills. Apart from a wide range of in-house training courses, you will also have the opportunity to follow complementary training sessions. In this way, you continuously develop your business knowledge, your technical expertise and your social skills.
• On the one hand, our team focuses on our internal customers, the business partners. We convert their requests into analytical projects which we tackle in multidisciplinary teams. This results in a direct and close collaboration with ETL, software development and the business partner.
• On the other hand, we are also responsible for the identification of new analytics opportunities. We pro-actively look for new insights that create an added value for our partners. We don’t just consider Colruyt Group, but we also follow external trends in the field of use cases regarding analytics and technological innovation.
• Colruyt Group consists of many different entities. As a result, there is a huge variety and amount of data and use cases. The projects you will work on, will therefore range from customer segmentation over sales forecasts and store test analyses to operational efficiency of machines, predictive maintenance and optimal use of base material.

You will work in Halle and you can work from home up to two days a week.

Profile:

• Education and experience – You have a solid foundation in trade and/or computer sciences, statistics, mathematics or engineering studies. You have at least 3 to 5 years relevant experience.
• Knowledge of statistic modelling – You have excellent knowledge of statistic modelling and are able to implement this in Python. You have knowledge of SQL and data visualisation techniques.
• Analytic ability – You succeed in translating data into insights and you are able to communicate them clearly and comprehensibly.
• Languages– You are bilingual Dutch/English and have reasonable knowledge of French.
