Cowater Brussels is currently recruiting a Development & Climate Change Projects Trainee.
YOUR ROLE
- You will be supporting the Climate Change Unit in all tasks related to management of services contracts in the field of climate change and all relative themes (finance, governance, gender)
- You will be required to demonstrate a combination of flexibility and dedication in your work
- You will be an active member of the team, participating to all the tasks of the Climate Change Unit
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Map lessons learned and results of current services contracts on climate change projects under implementation
- Update the climate change experts data base
- Support bid managers in undertaking activities linked to a tender preparation, mostly on the identification and formulation of strategies and methodologies for climate change-related tenders
- Undertake background research for the upcoming project opportunities identified by the company and for the tender under preparation
- Support in the identification and selection of experts for the proposals
- Support in finalising CVs and methodologies for each submission
- Participate to meetings with the Cowater International “Environment and Climate Change Committee”
- Perform other duties as determined by the Climate Change Unit Director (Cowater International - formerly Transtec)
LEARNING AND SKILLS OBTAINED
- Good command of : climate change stakes in the international development sector, mostly on adaptation and climate finance issues ; climate change-related methodologies ; projects cycles and tender preparation ; diversity of climate change expertise ; transversal thematics linked to climate change
- Professional capacities : technical offers building ; analysis of the results of climate change projects ; report on climate change issues in company meetings ; working under time constraints, in team and in a multicultural environment
- Professional experience in a climate change business unit of a consulting company, with junior project manager or junior consultant responsibilities
REQUIREMENTS
- Status: recent graduate looking for a professional intership, or a student looking for an end-of-study internship
- Academic background: BA or MA/Master in International Relations or Political/Social Sciences (or in any relevant disciplines)
- Academic specialization or experiences in Climate change, especially in adaptation of climate change, and proven knowledge in climate change methodologies
- IT-skills: advanced use of MS Office (most of all Word and Excel)
- Knowledge of international development and cooperation is required, and knowledge of international institutions will be an asset, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa and Maghreb regions.
- General skills: rigorous, accurate, critical mind and result-orientated ; being a good team worker is essential
- Communication skills: creative, open-minded and innovative
- Languages: Fluency in English and French is mandatory.
- Working knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese would be considered as an asset;
THE INTERNSHIP
The internship will take place in our office in Brussels, Belgium. Teleworking will be possible, in agreement with the internship supervisor and the sanitary rules.
The internship will last six months, from January to June 2022. Compensation will be provided.
