Janssen Global Services, LLC, is recruiting for a Director, Global Access Policy to be located at our J&J Site in Raritan, NJ, Washington, D.C. or Beerse, Belgium.

Janssen Global Services, LLC encompasses groups that provide leadership across critical business areas for J&J Innovative Medicine including, Global Commercial Strategy Organization; Global Pharmaceuticals Communication and Public Affairs; U.S. Pharmaceuticals Procurement Group; and Pharmaceuticals Group Business Development

Access Policy is an increasingly important focus across the range of developed, middle income and least developed healthcare systems globally. The J&J Innovative Medicine GCSO organization is building a capability to support the JJIM Global Access Policy Council to co-ordinate across Johnson & Johnson the significant opportunities and challenges with regards to policy in market access and broader patient access for pharmaceuticals.

The Director, Global Access Policy will be a member of the Global Market Access team and will work with the Policy team within the Global Market Access Center of Excellence on initiatives of the JJIM Global Access Policy Council (JAPC). The JAPC is a working council of global, regional and functional senior access leaders from health policy, regulatory affairs, market access and communications and public affairs. The goal of the JAPC is to align, coordinate and steer global policy actions related to market access, pricing, and reimbursement, and health care system reform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Shape Access Policy
    • Develop and ensure access policy strategy support to global priorities and issues related to key geographies;
    • Understand and shape access policy related to health care systems and reform in key global developed and emerging markets, including the US, Japan and China;
    • Take ownership for shaping, leading and advancing particular evidence themes, projects and/or developing policy positions, working across the organization to build alignment and impact.
  • Partner with the Janssen Global Access Policy Council to establish Janssen/J&J as a thought leader and expert on aspects of health system reform and value assessment through research and analysis and through supporting leadership at relevant external regional and global summits;
    • Work with the Janssen Global Access Policy Council to establish Janssen/J&J as a key partner for governments and other payers/providers in understanding and adopting models of care to promote access in key therapeutic areas;
    • Monitor and analyze global access policy trends, positions, and reports across academic institutes, industry associations, and other external stakeholders and draw business relevant insights.
    • Support the development and execution of internal and external engagement strategies to educate and shape policy issues and solutions, including value assessment and value frameworks, pricing and reimbursement issues, and health system policy reforms.
    • Understand and support Janssen/J&J’s effort to promote the value of pharmaceutical innovation in industrial and public policy;
  • Collaborate with regional and global Market Access leads, J&J Government Affairs & Policy and other functions represented on the Janssen Access Policy Council to ensure consistent strategy and messaging on access policy;
    • Work with the regions to identify significant policy developments, understand implications for market access for our portfolio and support incorporation into strategic thinking about evidence requirements and portfolio decision-making.
    • Work with the Senior Director of Pharmaceutical Access Policy to organize GCSO’s efforts to influence health policy development to ensure optimal access to our innovative medicines;
  • Support other team activities and projects, as relevant for own work and as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors’ degree is required.
  • An advanced degree in health policy, market access policy, pricing policy or related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 or more years work experience in health care policy, government affairs, health economics, value assessment, market access or related field is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, write and create clear, logical, compelling and concise documents and positions in English and articulate them effectively to influence key stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical thinking and skills. Project management experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, especially over departmental and geographical boundaries is required.
  • Broad experience in healthcare, particularly in pharmaceuticals is strongly preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of multiple markets, healthcare systems and therapeutic areas is preferred.
  • Intellectual flexibility and curiosity to continually develop and learn new skills is required.
  • This position is based in Raritan, NJ; Washington, DC or Beerse, Belgium and up to 20% domestic and international travel may be required.

The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $157,000 - $271,400

  • The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

    • Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year
    • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
    • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year
    • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
