Director, Franchise Architecture and Standards, Europe
Overview
Franchise is core to all Mastercard business: we enable our business by licensing our customers, registering third parties in the payments ecosystem, and creating, modifying, and enforcing rules and standards that govern participation in the system. The Franchise Architecture and Standards team manages the operating rules and standards that allow Mastercard and our Customers to offer safe and convenient ways to pay in countries around the world. As technology accelerates the introduction of new and innovative ways to shop, pay, and send money, the Franchise Architecture and Standards team is responsible for ensuring that the Mastercard rules and standards adapt in a way that enables the success of these solutions while preserving the integrity of our brands and network.
Role
The Director, Franchise Architecture and Standards is responsible for the development and management of Mastercard core rules and standards, and for bringing vision to the way we apply the principles of our Franchise to new business opportunities. The Director, Franchise Architecture and Standards will partner with market development, regional, product, services, and digital leads to understand new business models, and to develop participation structures and operating standards that enable scale while managing risk.

The Director, Franchise Architecture and Standards will partner with market development, regional, product, services, and digital leads to understand new business models, and to develop participation structures and operating standards that enable scale while managing risk.
Responsibilities
- Through close partnership with market development and digital partnership teams, develop a vision for the evolution of Franchise standards, anticipating the adoption of new account regulations and technologies
- Drive Franchise Architecture and Standards strategy for Europe into the design and development of solutions that advance acceptance and support Mastercard’s objective of growing in payments
- As a member of the global Franchise Architecture and Standards team, ensure alignment across regions of changes to the standards
- Proactively engage Franchise Architecture and Standards global leads to coordinate changes to the rules and promote awareness and alignment across the team
- Provide consultative support to discussions with business teams and external partners during the exploratory stage of product development
- Develop and advocate for a vision for how Mastercard creates and deploys standards in new spaces based on ensuring the ongoing stability and resiliency of Mastercard’s existing business and opportunity to scale new business
- Sponsor changes to the global standards for review by the Standards Review Board
- Manage European rule changes. Lead focus groups to see evolution of the rules based on changing customer, market, industry requirements
- Analyse and ensure global rule changes impacting Europe have positive customer impact
- Lead with a focus on building robust and enduring partnerships across the organization
