Siemens Smart Infrastructure is looking for an Energy Distribution Engineer to reinforce our Electrification & Automation team. You will be responsible for the design of technical solutions and the preparation of offers for our Energy Distribution projects. The Electrification & Automation business unit accompanies the customers in their electrification’s journey from revamping project to optimization of electricity usage through advanced automation systems. We support customers/society who are using electrification as lever for decarbonization.Our portfolio covers the entire spectrum for power distribution systems and solutions, including low & medium voltage switchgear, protection technology, substation automation, power quality, smart communication and microgrids. We are active in Belgium and French speaking countries of Africa.Our projects cover electrical networks of public distribution/transmission system operators(DSO/TSO), as well as industrial and power plants or data centers in the private sector.Find out more on our activities https://new.siemens.com/global/en/products/energy/energy-automation-and-smart-grid.htmlIn the first stage, you will be extensively trained in control and protection systems of high voltage systems, communication protocols and software, and protection relays.You will act as a technical expert and single point of contact for our customers, able to define and determine the appropriate solution, based on your own knowledge and experience, and supported by deeply technical discussions with different stakeholders (Sales colleagues, the customer, management, Expert colleagues, Head Quarter in Germany etc). Next to that you can translate these deeply technical aspects into an understandable solution for the customer.This entails the following responsibilities:
  • Analyzing the project request and converting it into the appropriate and feasible technical solution from our Siemens portfolio
  • Basic engineering of the solution (single line diagram, conceptual design of control, protection, or telecom system)
  • Technical clarification of the project with the customer through client meetings. Analyzing, explaining, and clarifying the technical offer and clauses
  • Elaboration of quotations, consisting of technical description, cost calculation and preparation of the documentation
  • Technical support of our Sales colleagues to provide them with technical expertise for pre-sales customer negotiations
  • Follow-up and validation of the proposal with Sales colleagues
  • Assisting in the transfer of the sales/bid team to Project Execution colleagues

  • Have an engineering degree with specialization in Electricity, Electromechanics or Energy?
  • Have sound knowledge of electrical distribution networks and components? .
  • Have a strong interest in energy transition using electrification?
  • Describe yourself as both highly analytical problem-solver with a strong eye for details but also able to maintain a helicopter view?
  • Thrive on collaboration with different stakeholders and adapting your discourse to various levels of technicality?
  • Feel comfortable traveling 6-10 weeks a year to customers abroad?
  • Speak fluently Dutch and English with a good knowledge of French too?
