The BU GEN is looking for a Generator Expert (M/F) for its Powertrain Engineering team in Brussels.

Your mission

  • you provide expertise to ENGIE and non-ENGIE sites in the field of thermal & hydro generator maintenance and relevant operations aspects
  • you support both ENGIE and non-ENGIE wind parks with drivetrain maintenance and become a reference in this domain inside and outside ENGIE
  • you conduct root-cause analyses in collaboration with different internal and external stakeholders and define corrective and preventive actions in case of incidents or non-conformities observed during outages
  • you carry out in the field machine conditions assessments and measurements (mechanical and electrical)
  • you work actively to develop the wind turbine drivetrain competences within EMS by sharing knowledge, coach others and determine adequate training modules for the department.
  • you play a key role in the preparation, execution and consolidation of drivetrain maintenance.
  • you define the scope, contracting of work packages
  • you report, develop and maintain long-term of wind turbine drivetrain / thermal generator maintenance and parts strategies
  • you play an essential role in the development and consolidation of wind turbine drivetrain technical information and know-how by driving internal REX processes and through participation to internal and external networks (e.g.: OEM meetings, user meetings, etc.)
  • you initiate and realize improvements based on technical-financial analyses (business case)
  • you assist in the negotiation of maintenance contracts

Organization / Reporting line:
  • the Generator Expert will be part of the Powertrain Engineering team within the Equipment Solutions Department of EMS
  • ge/she will report to the Head of Powertrain Engineering

Your profile

  • you hold a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent by experience
  • wind turbine maintenance, operations and technology fascinates you, and you pursue a long-term career in expertise and engineering
  • you have relevant hands-on experience in wind turbine drivetrain servicing, maintenance, commissioning or engineering or in the maintenance of thermal generators
  • you either have experience in the maintenance and engineering of thermal generators or are open to develop yourself
  • you ideally have GWO certificates or are willing to obtain the required certification for onshore and offshore wind turbine work. Willing to work at heights and in different weather conditions
  • you are willing to take additional training (VCA/BA4/BA5)
  • you master MS-Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and have knowledge of SAP
  • you have very strong analytical, reporting and communication skills
  • you are a team player and like interaction with various stakeholders; EMS colleagues, power plant staff, service provider personnel, insurers, etc.
  • you have the ability to place a technical problem in a broader context, taking into account specific financial and strategic parameters
  • you are willing to work alone or as part of a team, share knowledge, and coach others
  • you are mobile and flexible, willing to spend about 35% of working time abroad
  • you currently work and live in Belgium (local contract conditions)
  • you are multilingual, working knowledge of English and either Dutch or French
