As Head Medical Affairs oncology you will have the responsibility for overall medical leadership, strategy and execution including MSL activities in Oncology.
The purpose of the role is to:
- Lead the oncology medical team in the Local Operating Country (LOC)
- Drive external engagement with relevant stakeholders to lead medical affairs strategy and support clinical studies and share relevant scientific data in the field of oncology brand or non-brand related
- Drive cross-functional partnership and alignment with commercial and market access teams
- Serve as a point of contact and provide medical expertise and support as required to the Oncology Franchise, both Global and regional, and local clinical operation teams
- Monitor and update medical and management teams about key insights in oncology therapy areas, including GSK pipeline assets and of the changing healthcare environment in which GSK LOC operates.
Your responsibilities:
- You provide functional leadership to the oncology medical team, high level scientific presentations to all the above groups, insights to the global franchise teams with respect to current GSK products under accountability and to the clinical operations teams during feasibility and study conduct, as requested
- You drive performance of the medical oncology team, namely the implementation of the medical operational plan and external engagements with Health Care Professionals/ External Experts, Patient groups, medical guidelines societies
- You collaborate with commercial to align to LOC priorities
- You lead local reflexion on pipeline assets and share back to management team and above country leads
- You work with market access teams towards positive evaluation and reimbursement of the GSK oncology portfolio through pro-active external stakeholder engagement and reimbursement submissions.
- You provide support for the personal and professional development of team members as appropriate, coaching is part of this.
- Creating an environment and culture conducive to ethical and successful implementation of all agreed business objectives.
- To be accountable for Scientific Engagement budget for Oncology

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Highly experienced in the leadership of Medical Teams and engagement with Senior Leadership
- Higher scientific discipline and additional management experience
- Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry or health related field
- Significant experience in a role successfully engaging in scientific exchange with external experts.
- Excellent presentation and teaching skills to represent the company in a professional manner at medical, scientific and public events
- written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of French and/or Dutch is a plus
- pro-active ‘can-do’ mindset
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics it would be a plus:
- MD, PhD or PharmD or clinical or scientific expertise (list of publications, PubMed) in oncology
- 3+ years of experience in oncology in pharmaceutical industry, preferably in medical roles
- Proven leadership experience and ability to lead change
- Solid grounding in clinical, medical and pharmaceutical science with the ability to rapidly assimilate specific and detailed knowledge in these areas
- Experience evaluating and effectively communicating evidence-based medicine
- Ability to work in matrix and cross-functional teams
- Strong scientific communication and presentation skills
