In Belgium and Luxembourg, we are the official distributor of Toyota and Lexus. Therefore, we operate under the name Toyota Belgium. Our Belgian head office is located in Zaventem.

We are currently looking for aHead Of Accounting to strengthen our Finance team.

Function

The Head of Financial Accounting will supervise all accounting activities for Belgium to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (BE GAAP and IFRS), corporate policies and statutory obligations. It includes, Accounts Receivable, Accounts payable, Taxes, Internal Control, group and statutory closing.

The Head of Financial Accounting will report to and work closely with the Finance Director Belux and others in the organization. Support will be expected mainly (but not limited) in analysis and reconciliation of accounts, building transparency on financial accounts and governance matters, development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and control.

She/he will manage the Accounting Team and coordinate the Shared Service Center.

1-Statutory and tax

• Oversee tax accounting and statutory submissions
• Ensure full compliance with applicable regulations and deadlines (Income tax, VAT, statutory)
• Ensure up to date Board nominations and statutory fillings
• Responsible for successful completion of internal and external audits

2-Accounting

• Responsible for the full coordination of month-end closing activities, resulting in a timely and accurate reporting of actual results in line with group guidelines and deadlines
• Take responsibility for all balance sheet and P&L accounts, including (not limitative) fixed assets, inventories, accounts payable/receivable, treasury, other debtors and creditors, revenues & discounts, cots of sales, payroll and utilities, general ledger, etc.
• Perform monthly analytical reviews to ensure transparency on the full balance sheet
• Perform/Review key account reconciliations, justification, documentation
• Set up and monitor accounting KPIs
• Oversee accounting daily operations
• Oversee Account Receivables and timely collection of overdue
• Oversee Account Payables and timely settlements of debts

3-Processes and Internal Control

• Document processes and procedures
• Challenge the status quo to ensure maximum efficiency and automation of transactional activities
• Ensure compliance with the existing group accounting policies
• Ensure compliance with the ICS (Internal Control Standards) for all accounting activities
• Proactively identify and implement any remedies/improvements on procedures and internal controls to reinforce ICS compliance

4-Business Support:

• Provide technical accounting and tax advice to the Management of the company
• Lead quantitative and qualitative analytical work that unlocks business insights and drives sound decision-making on key business issues
• Support the controlling function by providing ad-hoc analysis and documentation

5-Team Management

• Manage a team of Senior Accountants and coordinate the Shared Service Center

Profile

• You have a higher degree in Accountancy and at least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role
• You have a sound understanding of IFRS and Belgium general accounting procedures
• You have a good knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word
• You have a good knowledge of accounting software (SAP)
• You are fluent in Dutch, French and English
