We are looking for a Head of Ethics & Compliance Region EUto join us in our Ethics and Compliance team, based in our Headquarter office in Brussels, Belgium.
About the role
As a Head of Ethics & Compliance Region EU/Intl/US and as a member of the E&C leadership team, you will collaborate with the Head of Global E&C and peers to embed and foster an ethical mindset and culture as well as designing, implementing and continuously improving an effective compliance program across UCB organizations. You will provide support and leadership to business partners for company-wide initiatives impacting E&C culture and practices.

Provide direct and indirect leadership for assigned E&C staff ensuring aligned priorities, strategies and approaches across E&C groups and geographies and providing ongoing management and development of staff,- Provide leadership, oversight and expert advice to ensure appropriate development, interpretation and implementation of compliance strategies, policies, procedures and programs for assigned region,
- Oversee and direct the UCB Regional E&C program including the implementation of an effective E&C organization to ensure that requirements for E&C are effectively implemented,
- Participate in regional leadership teams and other governance bodies to provide E&C focused input and leadership, providing regular updates to senior management including regional entity board on E&C related matters as needed. Implement regional E&C Governance to support implementation of robust E&C principles in partnership with regional business leaders. Chair regional Ethics & Compliance Committee.
You will contribute by and be responsible to:
Provide leadership, oversight and expert advice to ensure appropriate development, interpretation and implementation of compliance strategies, policies, procedures and programs,- Provide leadership in the development of a compliance risk management program to identify and effectively manage compliance obligations for UCB,
- Setting the strategy for and administering regional E&C training in collaboration with E&C global resources, for all affected employees (including temporary employees) and ensuring third parties (such as independent contractors and agents) are aware of the relevant policies; Assist the management of UCB US related sites in the development of educational plans, materials and resources to educate employees in the overall objectives of the Compliance Program and specific substantive areas of compliance for their organization,
- Develop regional E&C standards in partnership with business stakeholders and E&C global resources as needed,
- Develop, on a yearly basis, a UCB regional Audit/Review schedule delineating the areas identified for Audit/Review based on strategic objectives established in an Annual E&C Plan and the risk management program. Collaborate on development of Audit reports which detail recommendations designed to correct any potential weaknesses or areas of non-compliance discovered during an Audit/Review,
- Collaborate with E&C Investigations Lead to conduct investigations into alleged violations of the E&C Program, company ethics, and/or business conduct practices and make recommendations for resolution of misconduct, including disciplinary actions,
- Coordinate compliance Audit/Review activities in the region of external auditors or other groups/individuals. Perform follow-up Audits/Reviews to ensure improvement actions plans have been adequately implemented. Assist management of the audited department or areas in developing action plans to correct potential weaknesses and assure ongoing compliance,
- Examine the effectiveness of established policies, standards and procedures in assisting all levels of management in their obligation to comply with all applicable regulatory standards,
- Through e.g. participation on relevant industry trade groups and in partnership with legal department, maintain a current understanding of regulatory and compliance trends and changes in law and/or guidelines and to advise appropriate management of trends affecting their activity.
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
- Bachelor or master’s degree (preferred) as well as the CCEP/CCP-I or an alternative E&C education program.
- Management level healthcare regulatory and/or consulting experience of at least 10 years
- Knowledge of global healthcare regulatory standards,
- In depth understanding of key regional business integrity topics
- Hands on experience in operating compliance controls and understanding of industry best practices related to compliance controls
