Your Profile:
Your profile:
  • Master or PhD student in the field of electrical engineering, power electronics, electromechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Highly motivated for mobility, cars and electrification of mobility.
  • Experience with simulation tools such Ansys, SPICE, Simscape, PLECS, Amesim or similar.
  • You have a European EEA citizenship (not requiring a visum to work in Belgium).
  • You must be a student for the entire duration of the internship (= 6 months).
  • Open minded and keen to work proactively in a multi-cultural business environment.
  • Fluent in English (reading; writing; speaking).
  • Able to summarize and explain complex technical information in a simple, clear and visual way.

Your team and your responsibilities:
Division information:
As part of TME R&D organization, the Powertrain Division is responsible for local development of powertrains for vehicles built in one of the TME production plants, and for planning and research of new European technologies. Latest focus points include electrification, big data and connectivity.

Your project:
With increasing electrification in the automotive industry, power converters play a key role in future powertrains. Your project is about research and modeling of power converters applied to Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and will include the following activities:

  • State-of-art research on power converter technology for mobility applications (traction inverter, chargers, etc.) with focus on function integration
  • Establish and validate thermal models for various electronic power converters
  • Automated topology, design and optimal control exploration of power electronic converters to evaluate system efficiency, thermal management, electrical noise
  • Research methods for powertrain system performance (efficiency, EMI, etc.) estimation through simulation

!!! We can only accept students with an EEA or Swiss citizenship (not requiring a work permit or visa to be eligible to perform an internship in Belgium) !!!
