We are seeking a talented Junior Mechanical Designer to support our design team in the development of sheet metal and plastic housings for electronic equipment. In this role, you will assist senior designers in conceptualizing, designing, and detailing housings in various form factors while providing support in high-level BOM management.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in mechanical design across different manufacturing processes and contribute to the success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior designers in creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of sheet metal and plastic housings using CAD software.
• Support feasibility studies and structural analysis to ensure designs meet mechanical requirements and industry.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electronic components and wiring harnesses into housing designs, considering EMC, thermal dissipation, and cable management.
• Aid in optimizing designs for manufacturability, considering sheet metal fabrication processes and plastic molding techniques for both sheet metal and plastic housings.
• Assist in high-level BOM management, ensuring accurate documentation of components, materials, and suppliers.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas to enhance design quality and manufacturability.
• Support prototyping and testing activities, including the assembly and evaluation of prototypes.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop assembly processes and procedures.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in mechanical design, sheet metal fabrication, and plastic molding.

Required Competences

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
• Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
• Eagerness to learn and develop skills in both sheet metal and plastic housing design for electronic equipment.
• Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication processes (e.g., laser cutting, bending, welding) and plastic molding techniques (e.g., injection molding, thermoforming) is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to assist senior designers in high-level BOM management, ensuring accurate documentation of components, materials, and suppliers for both sheet metal and plastic housings.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a desire to contribute to the success of projects.
• Enthusiasm for continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends and best practices in mechanical design, sheet metal fabrication, and plastic molding.
