’The Antwerp Social Lab’ at the Faculty of Social Sciences, core facility of the University of Antwerp, is looking for an expertLAB MANAGER SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCH.
Function
The position includes the following assignments:
- You support the Antwerp Social Lab (https://www.uantwerpen.be/nl/onderzoeksgroep/antwerp-social-lab/ ) in the management and further development as a core facility of the University of Antwerp. You do this based on the specific expertise required for managing a research lab. This implies you manage the existing research infrastructure, you initiate and attend research meetings and are in close contact with the researchers of the lab, you are responsible for the maintenance and development of the research infrastructure, you implement a knowledge management system, and you help building a sustainable business model for the Antwerp Social Lab.
- You are responsible for a professional service within the Antwerp Social Lab as research lab of the Faculty of Social Sciences and core facility of the University of Antwerp. Tasks include technical advice and support, daily organization of the lab, as well as valorization and communication with internal and external partners.
Profile
- You hold a Master’s degree with demonstrable experience or interest in behavioral measures for social science research, as available and used by the researchers in the Antwerp Social Lab.
- You have knowledge of and/or a keen interest in specific systems (hardware and software) and/or associated technologies: eye tracking, psychophysiology, wearable sensor technology, social robots, ...
- You have experience or demonstrable interest in developing a business plan.
- Experience with programming (e.g., Python, R, Javascript) and/or data management is a plus.
- You have strong social and communication skills.
- You take responsibility for your work.
- You are a proactive problem solver and team player but can also work independently when needed.
- You enjoy working in a rapidly changing environment.
- You learn quickly and enjoy learning.
- You can plan and organize well.
- You will adopt a customer friendly, integrity, creative, quality oriented and collaborative approach.
- You speak and write English fluently.
- Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
What we offer
- We offer you a full-time or part-timecontract for 1 year (with possibility of extension).
- You will receive a gross monthly salary within the grade band 1-9.1 of the Administrative and Technical Personnel pay scales. Your entry-level grade (usually grade 7) depends on your relevant professional experience. If you work part time, your salary is calculated proportionally on the basis of your employment percentage, taking into account the available personnel budget.
- You will receive meal vouchers, ecocheques, a group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
- We offer flexible working hours.
- You will have 40 days of annual leave and collective leave for 1 week when the university is closed, between Christmas and New Year.
- You will do most of your work at City Campus in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
