Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Manager for Medpace Reference Laboratories in Belgium who will report directly to the Director, Client Services. This position is responsible for managing projects independently for one or more of Medpace Reference Laboratories’ major clients.

Responsibilities

• Plan, delegate, and organize the completion of laboratory projects/work in assigned region and/or laboratory area;
• Oversee clinical laboratory testing, evaluation of results, and proficiency of testing;
• Revise and implement new laboratory policies and procedures, and implement changes to work processes;
• Develop and maintain safety procedures in compliance with applicable regulations;  Monitor laboratory quality assurance and quality improvements;
• Work with Laboratory Director to resolve procedural and equipment issues;
• Evaluate and assess laboratory personnel in conjunction with Laboratory Supervisor and Laboratory Director; and
• Make decisions regarding personnel matters in collaboration with Laboratory Director and Human Resources.
  

Qualifications

• Leads and coordinates the daily operations of laboratory work/projects in assigned region/area. The employee will ensure compliance with accrediting agency and government regulations. Ensures participation in accredited proficiency testing programs. Accountable for reviewing and evaluating results of proficiency programs and initiates corrective action, when indicated.
• Bachelor’s degree in health-related field and at least 5 years of supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory; Must possess superior time management, leadership, planning and organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, and quality decision-making skills.
• Experience with the operations, testing and services of the area(s) supervised, including setting up, reading and releasing test results and troubleshooting equipment;
• Extensive laboratory skills and experience;
• Advanced knowledge of drug therapy techniques; and
• Knowledge of laboratory theory, preanalytical variables, effective clinical laboratory testing and disease processes, and correlation with clinical laboratory.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
