As an Optimisation Developer within our Flight Only team, you will deliver high quality front-end code to support the product & design team in delivering best-in-class user experience solutions across our whole portfolio of sites, and give our customers the inspiration they need to find and easily book their flight.You’ll be liaising closely with a team of UX/UI designers and analysts to make frequent front-end optimisations of different page elements and experiences – so they perform best for customers and the business, driving improvements in customer satisfaction and conversion. • You’ll be responsible for delivering clean, effective HTML, CSS, Javascript solutions as part of our ongoing site optimisation process. These changes will be implemented, managed and evaluated through our Adobe A/B testing functionality, so you won’t be restricted by lengthy release processes or development cycles – your changes can start delivering insight and benefit almost immediately!
• You’ll be working from high-fidelity visuals produced by our UI Designers to make sure your solutions fit in with our brand and style guidelines, and translating these designs into production-quality, performant front-end code through the tools in place. In many cases there will be multiple variants to deliver, so we can see which option performs best.
• You will be involved in the whole end-to-end process – using your knowledge of the technical capabilities of the tool to inform ideation and scoping of tests, and being responsible for both setting them up in the testing tool and ensuring that they are working as expected before they are published.
• On occasion we’ll also use the optimisation tool to deliver quick tactical front-end changes alongside the more complex optimisation tests. All of these require careful implementation to work alongside the existing front-end code. All tests must be delivered at high quality to prevent the need to back out due to code quality or performance issues, so your attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure will be key attributes.
• You will regularly discuss best practices with the other optimisation developers and the enabling team.

About You

• An enthusiastic junior front end developer eager to learn and to develop their skills in a fast paced environment.
• Background in ecommerce within a commercial environment would be useful to help feed into the optimisation process.
• Proven experience with the following technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript.
• Experience with using a CMS, Adobe Target or similar A/B testing tool would be beneficial but not required.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a cross-departmental team
• Understanding of Agile development processes to support code throughout iterative cycles, providing accurate estimates for development work to enable effective sprint planning
• Ability and motivation to independently build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable code, regularly reviewing and helping to maintain code quality, and to carry out fixes where necessary
• Ability to handle multiple projects under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and to help support the business’s desire to increase its testing capabilities
• Desire to self-learn and to gain further knowledge of the website and new technologies to be able to do larger, more involved tests
• Excellent responsive design, analytical and problem-solving skills
