The role The PES SM DS Head is responsible for base business supply of commercial Small Molecule products and leadership of others doing the same. Role leads Drug Substance CMOs and Supply Chain Licensing Alliances to ensure that products are available to meet customer needs, provide the highest quality at the lowest total cost of ownership, and achieve maximum relationship value through accelerated innovation, supplier integration, process improvement and collaboration. The external relationships are highly sophisticated in nature and require extensive interaction with key business partners, critical supplier leadership, and other segment/functional leadership. The role organizes, designs and allocates specific responsibilities across the team to optimize effectiveness and ensure alignment to short and long term strategic objectives of the Janssen Supply Chain and Partnerships & External Supply. The role manages a spend approx. $300MM. The role has a broad understanding of external landscape within the scope and makes decisions across the platform. Responsibilities Strategic leadership You shape the external network & strategy, influence and support JSC strategy by providing input on the external landscape related to partners and CMOs. You benchmark other J&J and partner companies and industries to identify innovations, continuous improvement, and outstanding processes to support PES and business development initiatives. You have a profound understanding of evolving market opportunities and communicate this throughout the organization. Operational leadership You lead the team and align with stakeholder organizations in such a way that the short- and long-term objectives are met. You establish and maintain performance metrics and targets with the goal of improving supply, processes, and systems and eliminating inefficiencies regarding supply, compliance, finance, and strategy. You partner with procurement for budget planning. You define and prioritize requirements, expectations, results, and partner needs between JSC functions and partners. You represent the external Drug Substance CMO’s towards the API Cluster Leadership team. People leadership You lead and develop a team to ensure strong results through effective performance management and development planning. Coach team members to influence outcomes through thorough understanding of the external and internal landscape. Qualifications Qualifications A minimum of a Master degree is required; other advanced degree is preferred. 10+ years of experience in the areas of both API manufacturing and business management (business development, procurement, value chain management, …). 3+ years of People Management experience, demonstrated cross-cultural people and team leadership. Proven track record in attracting and developing talent & leading cross-functional teams, and building strong team culture Excellent relationship management skills High level of credibility with internal customers, and within the external manufacturing supply chain community Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints, has ‘presence’. Broad knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and specifically Small Molecule API manufacturing Demonstrated strategy development. Demonstrated knowledge of functions including Quality, Technical Operations, Finance, Planning and Procurement. Understanding of end-to-end supply chain considerations and methods of driving continuous improvement. Demonstrated flexibility to respond to changes in the external and internal environments General Manager supply chain experience is a plus.
