Are you a newly qualified or finals standard Patent Attorney with a biotech background seeking a new role within the industry? If so, we would love to hear from you!
This is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of a science-led, global healthcare company – interacting directly with business leaders and clients, with the ability to influence the overall IP strategy.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career. In this role, you will:
- File and prosecute patent applications to secure exclusivity for R&D investments and advising on the interplay between patents and non-patent exclusivity.
- Work directly with clients within the GSK business and communicate with patent offices and foreign agents.
- Provide legal advice and influence internal clients in order to avert legal risks, by proposing creative, strategic IP advice.
- Analyse FTO issues and complex third-party situations.
- Work on teams responsible for evaluating and mitigating risks to our IP through opposition and litigation
- Provide support to Business Development for both in and out-licensing opportunities, including performing due diligence on proposed business transactions and negotiating legal agreements with internal and external parties.
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Newly qualified Patent Attorney (EPA and/or CPA or equivalent national qualification) or finals standard (part qualified, with at least pre-EQE)
- Good degree in life sciences, biology, biochemistry or similar
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Prior experience within the biopharmaceutical industry
- Experience in drafting and/or prosecuting biopharmaceutical patent applications
- A team player with strong interpersonal, negotiating, analytical and problem-solving skills
