The Centre for Health Economics Research and Modelling Infectious Diseases (CHERMID) is part of the Vaccine & Infectious Disease Institute (VAXINFECTIO) at the UAntwerp and of the SIMID consortium. CHERMID is a multidisciplinary research centre conducting methodological and applied research on mathematical modelling and the economics of public health, mainly vaccination. VAXINFECTIO, including CHERMID, is involved in several European Commission funded projects and is Collaborating Centre of the World Health Organization.

CHERMID in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is looking for a postdoctoralResearch Fellow.

Position

  • Your work will focus on Covid-19 and pandemic preparedness. The project aims to evaluate the multi-faceted impact of Covid-19 and of non-pharmaceutical interventions, as well as of vaccination strategies in different target groups. An important part of your work consists of collating, analyzing and interpreting Covid-19-related behavioural, economic, healthcare use and health impact data that have previously been collected in national and international projects CHERMID is involved in.
  • You will support various research projects at CHERMID, collaborating closely with other researchers with complementary skills.
  • You will report study results in writing and orally in the national and international scientific community.
  • You will be focusing on research, with limited involvement in teaching support tasks.
  • You will assist in the supervision of PhD students and other team members.

Profile

  • You hold a Master degree in economics (eg, Applied, Social or Health Economics, Commercial Engineering), public health, statistics, biostatistics, pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences and you have obtained a Doctoral degree relevant to the subject of health economics.
  • You have a strong interest in health economics and infectious diseases and are eager to acquire new competences and knowledge.
  • You can demonstrate very good academic results.
  • You have a good publication record in international peer-reviewed journals.
  • You can demonstrate very good quantitative skills.
  • You can demonstrate very good writing skills.
  • You enjoy working both independently as well as part of a team.
  • You can demonstrate working proactively.
  • You have good communicative skills, and a multidisciplinary interest.
  • You have thorough knowledge of English, both oral and written.
  • Thorough knowledge of Dutch and/or French is an asset, but not required.
  • Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies.
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.

What we offer

  • We offer a position in line with your experience for a period of one year. Following a positive evaluation and sufficiently available funds, this period will be extended.
  • The planned start date is as soon as possible after the selection procedure, but no sooner than 1st January 2023.
  • Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scale for a principal research fellow in the Contract Research Staff category .
