Through top scientific research, we push back boundaries and set a course for the future – a future that you can help to shape.
The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science is looking for a full-time(100%) postdoctoral scholarship holder in the field of physical chemistry - electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR).
Position
- You will conduct research in the framework of a multi-disciplinary project on coloured titania (True colours of titanium dioxide, for more details: https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/staff/sabine-vandoorslaer/research/). This project includes the synthesis and advanced characterization (both theoretical and experimental) of these titania for CO2 reduction and sensor applications. You will be performing the advanced spectroscopic analyses, mainly with different continuous-wave and pulsed electron paramagnetic resonance techniques. You will be working at the EPR facility in the BIMEF research group under the guidance of Prof. Sabine Van Doorslaer (https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/research-groups/bimef/facilities/epr-facility/)
- You will publish scientific papers related to the research project.

- You will participate in the provision of academic services: you will represent the research group both internally and externally, help to coordinate service projects, and so on.
Profile
- You hold a PhD in the field of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Physics (or you will have obtained it by the time you start work).
- You have a solid background in spectroscopic methods; a specific background in (pulsed) electron paramagnetic resonance is an advantage
- You have a good basic knowledge in materials sciences and inorganic chemistry; knowledge on titania materials and photocatalysis is an advantage.
- You enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies.
- Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
- You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
