Jan De Nul is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to join our innovation team from the department of Project Development and Conceptual Design. This is a unique opportunity to work in a market leading company specializing in dredging, marine constructions and offshore services. As a Project Engineer in Development and Conceptual Design, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our engineering projects and contribute to continuous growth towards sustainable goals.

Jan De Nul answers to market opportunities by innovating in large-scale technically and economically feasible solutions. Typical innovation projects pair biodiversity enhancement and marine habitat restoration with coastal protection techniques and offshore renewable energy infrastructure. Jan De Nul is a pioneer in developing nature-based solutions and nature-inclusive designs for coastal management and offshore infrastructure and dredging works.

YOUR TASKS

Most Of Your Time Will Be Spent On Innovation Projects In The Field Of Coastal & Offshore Engineering, Offshore Renewable Energy And Nature-based Solutions, Through

  • Follow-up and implementation of innovation projects;
  • Assistance in acquisition of new innovation projects;
  • Collaborating in the development and conceptual design of (innovation) projects with external partners;
  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Modelling Engineers, our Marine Environmental Department, Dredging and Offshore department, Production Department and Area Management;
  • Assisting during initial project development, feasibility, tender and design phases of engineering projects by using innovation results and creativity;
  • Assisting in communication and dissemination goals for our project results



  • You hold a Doctoral or Master degree with equivalent experience, in Civil or Mechanical or Naval Engineering or a related field. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment;
  • You have already conducted research (with proven experience) within at least one of the following fields: coastal engineering, offshore engineering, offshore renewables, maritime engineering, hydraulics, nature-based solutions, numerical or experimental modelling of wave – structure interaction;
  • You have participated in the support and implementation of innovation projects funded within the Horizon2020 and Horizon Europe frameworks, and other national or international funding schemes;
  • You have participated in the writing of proposals for funding acquisition for research and innovation projects;
  • You have experience in writing technical reports;
  • Publication(s) in (one of) the above fields is a plus;
  • You have excellent (or certified) knowledge of the English language. Knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus.
