Job Description:

We are searching for a Mechanical Engineer assigned to manufacturing processes [industrial packaging: IBC, steel drum lines, plastic drums] to support projects or improve line performance for Greif’s EMEA facilities. This is a great opportunity to travel to (around 50%) and gain experience of our facilities and meet our industry experts.

Typical areas of work will include project management, equipment design, ensuring safety, cost effectiveness and compliance, modification and improvement to existing lines or equipment, and auxiliaries to enhance or improve process and systems (BDP’s).

Key Responsibilities

• Designs, communicates, and implements plans for engineering projects. Evaluates current processes and identifies constraints and potential design optimization opportunities to enhance productivity, cost efficiency, reliability, and safety.
• Maintain and organize complete documentation on design/process and project progress.
• Prepare equipment specifications and order equipment.
• Implement projects and assist with installation, start-up and troubleshooting as required, verify that the delivery meets performance criteria.
• Provide technical guidance, support in the development of equipment and process improvements; support general continuous improvement processes
• Partners with consultants and internal engineering colleagues to prepare project drawings and specifications for engineering projects.
• Performs cost analyses, calculates estimated project costs, and prepares and implements a budget based on estimates. Develops detailed equipment layouts, benefit analyses and project schedules.

Education And Experience

• Typically possesses Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics or similar)
• Experience in practical mechanical engineering, manufacturing and project management
• Experience in equipment and layout design and general plant services
• Comprehensive understanding of Lean Manufacturing Systems
• Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively with others as part of a team
• Excellent knowledge of English
• Customer oriented, deliver turnkey solutions
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Analytical, pragmatic and practical approach to problem solving
