Position Overview

Job objective is to accelerate growth of the Versatics business by supporting VeoVaTM and CarduraTM monomers expansion into actual and new application areas. For this purpose, we are intending to hire a Research & Technology Product Development Technician based in our Louvain-la-Neuve laboratories. This role will predominantly consist of lab support to customers and projects related technical activities, through the preparation of water-borne emulsions or solvent-borne polymer resins, their characterization, formulation, application and evaluation. While applying high quality standards and a professional way of working, he/she proactively acts as a team player, directly reporting to the Technical Manager. Problem solving and scientific curiosity attitude are further key elements of the open position.
Job Responsibilities

Prepares resins / emulsions, characterizes, formulates, applies coatings, and evaluates performances.

Plans and executes related detailed experimental programs agreed upon with the supervisor.

Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment as well as in independent projects.

Independently performs a broad range of experimental activities applying high quality standards.

Makes sure that the results are delivered on time and communicates, at an early stage, progress and any issues that could influence meeting deadlines. Explores and proposes proactive solutions to problems and shares them with supervisor.

Critically compiles, reviews, arranges, and interprets experimental data to reveal possible unambiguous relationships.

Maintains timely, accurate lab books in order to provide the records required to properly execute/address all IP questions and needs, and to safeguard experimental data.

Critically discusses and communicates project results both verbally and in a written report with the guidance of supervisor.

Responds to technical support (customers) questions with detailed and well-structured answers while balancing Hexion’s and customers’ interests.

Interacts with peers from marketing, sales, and manufacturing to ensure alignment on solving customer problems.

Acts within boundaries agreed upon with supervisor.

Relates with peers and customers with professionalism and respect.

Contributes to others’ projects in a proactive manner.

Executes essential lab support activities in full and in time (equipment’s guardian, chemicals ordering, samples dispatches…)

Carries out activities living up to EH&S standards and practices good housekeeping.

Follow all safety guidelines. Maintain clean work area.

Minimum Qualifications

Lab professional experience in the area of polymerization and coatings is a plus.

Good interpersonal skills.

Some experience in customer interactions is an advantage.

Solid standard software skills (MS Office).

Fluency in English.

Education Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry Other

If currently an employee of the Company, you must have current satisfactory work performance and in most cases, have been in your current role for 18 months.
