R&D Project Manager Avionics

High Tech in Aerospace

Cockpit displays - Safety critical electronics – video and graphics

For our customers in the Aerospace industry (Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer, Comac,… ) we develop and produce in Kortrijk the next generation Cockpits with Visualisation and Human Interface Solutions: Smart Displays, Video displays, Touchscreens, ….

As R&D Project Manager you work in a matrix organisation with a lot of knowledge sharing internally and externally.

Your project management teams consist of Managers and Specialists from our different R&D departments: Hardware, Software, Mechanics, Quality, ....

You report to the R&D Manager Avionics.

After the Project Definition of the R&D project is accepted you drive the activities of the Project Development team towards the desired Results (Project Execution).

3 kinds of projects are originated by:

  • the Customer: we need to develop or adapt our product to new specifications defined by the customer
  • our organisation ScioTeq: to develop a new ScioTeq product-visualisation solution to the specification of product management, upgrade an existing product, introduce a new supplier or technology, ...
  • Research: projects related to develop new technologies in the area of Complex Video Processing, New Touchscreens, Visualisation Technologies.

Your responsibilities

  • Defining, monitoring and managing project schedule: people, time,budgets and scope
  • Challenge, define, secure that what is specified (requirements) are the best answers to the customer/market needs.
  • Manage the development team towards efficient and effective cooperation with other ScioTeq Departments
  • Follow up & communicate engineering project status and KPI’s to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage project scope and project risks from the engineering perspective
  • Write internal and external project reports

Profile

  • Masters degree in engineering (electronics, software, mechanics, product development,...)+ affinity with Video, AI, Image Processing, ....
  • Excellent project management skills
  • At least 5 years of experience in Project Management: managing project schedule, budget, technical scope and resources
  • Negotiation Skills: You need cooperation, time, people from different departments and hierarchical levels (Collaborative team spirit in action)
  • Result Oriented: Projectplan/Milestones/Deliverables
