As a Renewable Energy Sourcing manager, you will be given the chance to grow the Borealis share in renewable energy, focussing on electricity. In this role you will be setting the trend for the next decades with regards to the use of renewable energy. Innovation and curiosity are key aspects. Your contribution will impact all of our (European) Hydrocarbons and Polyolefins locations. In this international role, your location is Mechelen and you will travel up to 30%.

In our challenge to drive forward we expect the following from you:

• You are responsible for the further growth of the Borealis renewable electricity portfolio over the next decade and beyond, managing internal and external renewable energy relationships.
• You scout renewable electricity opportunities in Europe and negotiate, structure and close long-term power purchase agreements (PPA’s) that contribute to the competitive success of the Borealis group. You take responsibility for all commercial, risk, relationship, compliance and administrative aspects of such contracts.
• You build an extensive external network in Europe in renewable energy, and build internal cross functional networks with all relevant stakeholders (credit, power trading, group risk, legal, Public affairs, communication, etc).
• You build and maintain a database on PPA intelligence, preferred projects and monitor trends in the market.
• You play an active support role in sustainability projects other than PPA’s related to renewable energy, on stream integration and/or carbon emissions (Carbon capture and usage).
  

About You

Then we are curious to meet you. To be succesful in this role, we also expect the following from you:

We require a Master’s degree, preferable in commercial or technical engineering from an acknowledged university. Economic and financial literacy is a must. An MBA or master in management is considered to be a strong advantage. Furthermore you have a proven track record (over 5 years experience) in European (energy) sourcing and ideally you already closed PPA’s. An in-depth knowledge of Central European, Western European and Nordic power markets is desired, in particular of the RES industry and technology. Experience in project and risk management is an important asset. In addition to this, your environment would describe you as a commercial talent with a realistic sense of business, the right amount of patience and a entrepreneurial hands on approach. Sustainability is your way of living and you dare to go beyond the status quo’s. High ethical standards and personal integrity are crucial to work at Borealis. Your English communication and presentation skills are flawless. Any other language (i.e.

German, Dutch, Swedish, Finnish) is considered a plus.
