Simulation Research Engineer – FE Technologies Team- f/m

What You Will Be Doing
As part of our FE Technologies Research team, you contribute, through your knowledge and your enthusiasm, to the development of the next generation CAD-embedded simulation tools with the aim to democratize mechanical simulation. Your unique skills will give rise to a new class of disruptive, fast and intuitive structural solvers, targeting the wider user base of Application experts and Design Engineers.
You imagine and design innovative solutions in a scientific, dynamic and international environment. Within our research team, you develop your skills through contact with experienced researchers, and with our unique academic network. Thanks to your inputs to the technical direction and collaboration with other teams, you are key contributor to the success of our product.
- You design, develop, modify and implement a new class of CAD-embedded structural solver based on state-of-the-art simulation methodologies and programming techniques.
- You collaborate with our unique university network, and possibly supervise engineering PhD applicants and/or Master students
- You provide specialized expertise within multiple systems, software, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines, applications implications, and customer areas.
This position is to be filled in Leuven, Belgium.
What you will need to bring
We would love to hear from you if you have a PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Computational Mechanics, from a top-ranked international University. In-depth knowledge of Python, C++ and/or modern programming principles is a must. HPC (High Performance Computing) experience with CPU and GP-GPU hardware, and/or AI and machine learning skills is also a plus. A complementary expertise in CAD and mechanical assembly modelling and Computational Geometry algorithms will be a differentiator.
You should come with strong abilities to understand complex products, solutions, and problems including complete industrial workflows from Siemens’ customers.
- Your organizational and planning skills allow you to hit the deadlines under strict project timelines while not sacrificing quality in the code. We would like to you to bring creative problem-solving skills but also pragmatism when needed.
- Thanks to your excellent communications skills and your lever of English, you build positive relationships with your colleagues and you integrate easily in a team.
