Job Purpose and Impact

Cargill is looking to further optimize it’s asset and supply chain driven energy spend and exposure. In that connection, a new role is being created on power and gas analysis, with a key focus on Europe. This includes analysis of supply and demand of natural gas in Europe and have a view on defined market indices over a short, medium, long term horizon, taking into account fuel switching and other economic considerations. The role will involve developing models, tools and processes to equip our teams to make hedging, trading, risk management, margin enhancement and asset utilization decisions. The role will primarily work with the Cargill’s energy procurement team based in Europe and US and will have touch points with traders and analysts on other desks.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead the development, enhancement and execution of tools, models and processes to forecast and describe price, supply and demand, relative value and global trends on assigned commodity markets.
  • Provide timely, accurate and actionable insights to trading team and key customers to drive strategic decision making.
  • Coach peers on the connections between the analysts and trading team and demonstrate the connection between market and benchmark analytics and the value added to the trading teams.
  • Collaborate with broader Trading Data and Analytics team on initiatives relevant to Cargill eg; energy transition
  • Develop, coordinate and support initiatives for technology and data for trading data analytics in conjunction with stakeholders.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of trading business, risk management understanding of what information adds value
  • Ability to influence global teams to build consensus around trading strategy
  • Ability to quickly take disparate information and derive actionable insights
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and execute under tight timelines
  • Experience with commodity supply and demand fundamentals and economics
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with complex modeling, coding, data science and big data management
