Senior System Engineer

In this permanent role you’ll have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Cochlear’s successful history of innovation by applying your knowledge of architecture, interfaces and systems engineering. You’ll know you’ve been successful in this role when you’re driving the scope & systems level design for the next generation Cochlear Implant Systems and have become the go-to person for system level issues on your current product portfolio.

Our R&D Department is currently looking for a Senior System Engineer for our office in Mechelen.

Key Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate and lead cross-functional design teams in the development of new products or feature extensions of existing products
• Perform system architecture and design for our new hearing implants and products
• develop and test prototypes for these
• Direct and participate in design reviews in areas that could impact system performance and function
• Develop and manage design input, system requirements and requirements traceability
• Ensure proper verification and validation of the system requirements
• Propose technical direction and provide leadership in technical architecture in projects
• Consider regulatory impact of architecture and design (e.g. biocompatibility, safety, cybersecurity etc.)
• Document architectures and designs
• Follow relevant quality procedures in order to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement

About You:

• Bachelor Degree or higher in engineering/science (Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Biomedical or System Engineering preferred)
• 5 years post qualification experience in engineering design and verification, preferably with hardware, embedded software and / or firmware controlled electro-mechanical products
• Working knowledge of systems engineering principles, methods and tools that are appropriate for product development
• Demonstrable ability to facilitate cross-functional teams to make decisions
• Excellent team player
• Skilled with cross-functional thinking and problem solving
• Excellent communication skills (oral/written)
• Excellent verbal and written English language skills
