Job Description
The Senior Vision Engineer is integrated in the Process Engineering structure.
He or She is responsible for an efficient implementation and maintenance of high-quality engineering systems and manufacturing equipment.
He or She is a responsible of the continuous improvement of the Automatic Visual Inspection (AVI) Equipment and development of new recipes.
He or She is responsible to provide Vision Engineering support to all site projects, acting as an Subject Matter Expert (SME) of vision systems.
He or She is a major actor of continuous improvement on site (Using DMAIC methodology).
He or She is responsible to perform analysis of in place equipment and provide a 10-year plan to assure the site development and the business continuity.
He or she will be involved in day to day routine activities, investigation commissioning and qualification of systems according to EHS, GMP and Best Engineering Practices requirements.
How You Will Contribute
Projects
In scope of CAPEX programs and continuous improvement of new/existing systems, the incumbent must be able to be a technical leader in Large projects.
In particular, the position implies
- Definition and implementation of new products into the vision systems (including AVI equipment)
- Basic Design and support for project spending forecast.
- Detailed Design of new or in place systems.
- Tenders writing, orders handling, following of construction, and start-up of equipment.
- Write and support the execution of validation packages (URS/FSDS/Commissioning…)
- Train employees impacted by changes and new equipment for the Hand Over.
- Manage contractors to support the project implementation
- Be on the floor to understand and analyze problematic of the Vision systems, including the Automatic Visual Inspection Machines.
- Develop improvements on the recepies/systems/Vision tools for the existent or new vision systems.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of algorithms through the implementation of tools, manipulation of large databases of images and videos, data visualization, performance evaluation and unit test set
- Continuous optimization of the existing vision recipes at the existing inspection machines based on the collected OEE data to reduce grey channel rejects
- Support and monitoring of qualification and validation of visual inspection automation systems; owns and maintains test case content
- Recommend efficient improvement to minimize production down time and increase quality.
- Use problem-solving skills (DMAIC).
- Provide a support to build a 10 years plan to assure the site master plan.
- Introduction, support and optimization of production and inspection processes (OEE optimization, machine learning, reliability KPIs).
- Applies statistical and problem solving (e.g. fishbone, 5-whys, DMAIC principles) analysis methods in any investigation / experimental work
- Support in process data analysis (Advanced Analytics, Tableau Reports).
- Support site activities as a technical expert to facilitate investigations.
- Support and challenge technical aspect for quality issues.
- Perform troubleshooting to support the routine in case of maintenance and reliability requests.
- Active participation and back up to support and drive daily operational meetings.
- Provide expertise to contractors for equipment issues.
- Provide expertise to generate process flow and templates to facilitate implementations
- B.S. in Optical, Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Computer Engineering or equivalent is required; Master’s degree is preferred
- Comfortable with the technology evolution for automation systems.
- Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in software development in vision systems and different type of cameras
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry in an engineering function related to imaging and/or illumination sub-systems is required
- Prior experience developing and implementing AVI is preferred
- Project Management Experience is required
- Knowledge in Visual Inspection of parenteral products (USP <1790>) is preferred
- Experience in the machine industry with robotics and inspection systems is required
- Prior experience with V&V testing and/or related Design Control processes (e.g. product development lifecycle, requirements and risk management) is required
- Experience in objective and subjective image and video quality assessment preferred
- Prior experience developing and implementing new test methods is required
- Skills in Vision Based Robotics, computer science, artificial intelligence and machine learning are required
- Qualification & Validation skills and in defining user requirements are required
- Significant experience in applying and optimizing vision tools
- Proficiency in quantitative analysis and hardware automation in MATLAB
- Proficiency in Microsoft project and Microsoft visual c ++ is required
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for fixture design and a solid understanding of GD&T principles preferred
- Linux commands experience is preferred
- Proficiency in statistical principles/tools and statistics software such as Minitab, Python or MATLAB is preferred
- Good communication skills and the ability to lead and perform effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
- Must have the ability to effectively participate to Engineering projects, coordinate contractors, and drive results.
