Digazu, a European software company, has been created on one simple premise: most of the time spent on data projects is spent on data engineering tasks, everything that stands between the sources of data and their usage in data science or business intelligence.

We want to make data scientists and business analysts’ lives easy when it comes to get the data they need: it shouldn’t take weeks to months or require a great expertise in technology.

Digazu has been incubated within Euranova, an innovative consulting company specialized in data and after a couple of successful large-scale deployments is ready to move to a stand-alone pure software play.

The product is built using a configuration automation approach for a unique combination of leading technologies (Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, …).

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end responsibility of the operations of Digazu instances (i.e. deployment, configuration, scaling, upgrade, recovery, monitor)
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies, alerts, and escalations from customer support
• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to operate, support, and troubleshoot running systems
• Automate operational tasks and craft solutions to improve operations and reliability of running system
• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to shape, build, and ship those automations and solutuions in an incremental development environment
• Contribute and help other engineers for other features, improvements, and fixes when adequate, for instance through code reviews or pair programming
• Follow & advocate our guidelines & standards, still be ready to review them and suggest improvements
• Share knowledge with other engineers and mentor less experienced engineers to grow
  
  

Requirements

• A few years of industry experience.
• Professional experience with Linux, Kubernetes, and a containerization technology
• Professional experience with observability and related tools
• Professional experience with a cloud provider (preferably GCP or AWS)
• Professional experience with provisioning and infrastructure configuration (preferably Terraform or Ansible)
• Proficiency in a Unix shell scripting language (e.g. Bash) and any programming language (preferably Python and/or Golang)
• Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a remote, multicultural, and asynchronous work environment
• Proficiency in documenting to report accurately or build a knowledge base
• Effective practice of looking for improvement and crafting them either by documenting
• Effective communication skills to support collaboration, co-ownership, transparency, and business continuity
• Enthusiasm and preference for fixing something broken to help someone, especially a user
• Demonstrate ability of a forensic approach
• Good programmer, a good grasp of fundamentals (e.g. networking, operating system, file system)
• Good software engineering skills (maintainable code, documentation, iterative plan, robust and efficient design, code review, testing, quality)
• Experience with agile or lean methodologies, and intensive iterative development process
• Demonstrated ability to think about heterogeneous systems in terms of scaling, failures, behaviors, and other edge cases
• Experience with product
• Self-motivated and self-managing
• Demonstrated ability to support users and communicate
• Demonstrated ability to listen and learn from feedback and mistakes
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with other parts of the organization

Nice to haves

• Professional experience with operating data-intensive and stateful service (preferably Apache Kafa, PostgreSQL, Apache Flink) and a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems
• Professional experience with support and on-calls
• Good knowledge of distributed stateful systems and database systems
• Professional experience with Java and/or Elixir applications in production
• Understanding of JVM and/or BEAM mechanics
• Experience with growing organization and flat organizational structure
• Interested in speaking about their work internally or publicly
