The Geel site is the largest API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) manufacturing site in the Janssen Supply Chain Small Molecule (SM) Platform. We ensure our life savings medicines reach the patient, safely, optimally, competitively, always. As the API Launch and Grow site for Small Molecule API, the site is closely connected, with our R&D partners and with our drug product launch site in Latina, Italy.

The Geel site BEx and Strategy lead reports directly to the General Manager and is a core team member of the Site Leadership Team. You help define and deliver the Site Strategy, ensuring that we will continue to improve our competitive edge and be the best in delivering our API to our customers and ultimately the patients we serve.

This role leads and develops a team of business excellence and training professionals and works closely with the Global Business Excellence Lead for the SM platform to support the site’s improvement programs.

The BEx Lead is accountable for delivering value to the business through three main pillars:

Your team facilitates the JJPS activities: deploying the system, building capability, and deliver CIPs as committed in BP. The BEx team coordinates key programs that drive continuous improvement, agility, reliability and cost reduction in line with SM platform strategy and Global Business Excellence standards.

Your team implements pivotal initiatives in support of our site Launch and Grow mission (e.g. Workforce of the Future deployment, innovation mindset, develop or improve site business processes …)

You lead the Training Management team where a newly defined Training Strategy will be deployed. You are responsible to build the competency framework needed to further strengthen our site as Center of Excellence for Launch and Grow and in line with the MTO (Manufacturing and Technical Operations) Workforce of the Future program.

In addition to the 3 strategic pillars above, the BEx Team is the gatekeeper for certain site processes:

You lead the program and project management office (PMO) and associated governance processes that drive continuous improvement, including setting critical metrics that drive site performance

Your team coordinates the development and deployment of the site G&O’s, ensuring we set our site priorities to meet both our Launch and Grow mission as well as the broader Janssen Supply Chain strategy. You align the site dashboards and scorecards, collaborate across functions internally and externally to achieve E2E alignment

The work performed by the Business Excellence team is all about collaboration with colleagues and teams across different functions, both locally as globally; you deliver value through influencing and supporting the functions in delivering results and meeting their objectives.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Minimum of 8 years of leadership in a manufacturing & continuous improvement environment
• Certification or willingness to certify as Master Black Belt and JJPS site deployment lead required.
• Capable of influencing without direct authority
• Understanding of overall business environment, including financial impact
• Capable to facilitate discussions and workshops & strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation) from floor level operations up to senior level
• Experience and solid understanding of Project Management (PMO) and establishing process & governance
• Expert change leader & transformation capability
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in JJPS (deployments, diagnostics, health checks and qualifications) preferred
