Facebook’s Content Policy team is looking for an experienced Manager to join our Stakeholder Engagement team in the area of content governance. Content Policy is the team that creates policies to govern what people can share on Facebook and how advertisers and third-party developers interact with the site. Our work involves developing relationships with civil society, academics, and other thought leaders to provide transparency into our policies, and to take feedback on developing them. Our work also includes partnering with teams across Facebook to design, build, and manage new governance mechanisms and institutions (such as the Oversight Board) that give people greater power over Facebook products. We conduct engagement as part of Facebook’s efforts to pioneer new solutions to an array of important challenges in the area of content moderation. In this role, you will engage with external stakeholders to inform new governance initiatives for the company. Your work will include understanding the stakeholder landscape, convening dialog, analysing feedback, and contributing to the development of new policies and products for these initiatives. The ideal candidate will have background in civil society, academia, or government, and will be able to leverage knowledge and relationships for purposes of external engagement. He or she will be a strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinker with excellent planning skills, strong communication skills, project management, and attention to detail. You should be passionate about the services we provide and the people that we serve.
- Craft regional engagement strategy with civil society organizations, academics, and think tanks in relation to Facebook’s content governance initiatives.
- Identify strategic opportunities for external engagement in relation to these initiatives throughout Europe.
- Support Content Policy team members and other teams in undertaking external engagement in the region.
- Contribute internal thought leadership on the European stakeholder landscape.
- Represent Facebook’s Content Policy team in external engagements in the region.
- Develop tools and metrics for measuring the impact of external engagement in the content governance field.
- B.A. or B.S. degree in policy, government, law, business, corporate social responsibility, or a related field.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, cross-functional partnership, project management, project design, and/or strategic execution.
- Experience supporting a team carrying out complex cross functional initiatives.
- Experience prioritising work and interacting with different levels, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative, productive relationships in civil society, government, or academia.
- Extremely strong verbal and written skills as communicator and presenter.
- Fluency in English.
- Advanced degree in policy, government, law, business, corporate social responsibility, or a related field.
- Experience in analysing or shaping policies in the area of Internet governance or content moderation.
- Experience in collaboration between technology companies and the civil sector.
- Leadership at a sector, national, or regional level among civil society or governmental organisations.
- Fluency in a regional language other than English.
