The NATO Communications & Information Agency (NCIA) is leading NATO’s Digital Endeavour. The role of Support Engineer will be part of the new NATO Digital Workplace (NDW) based from Mons, Belgium.

The Role

The mission of the NDW is to empower NATO employees with the services, tools and approaches to digitally connect, communicate and collaborate. The new role of Support Engineer will be join the Information Administration Services (IAS) team where they will be responsible for system support and services for collaborative tools across NATO. They will work in particular with Microsoft SharePoint Server-based systems, mainly the NATO Information Portal, but also the Enterprise Document Management System, the Project Implementation Tracking Tool and the Tasker Tracker.

Part of this newly formed group the Support Engineer will operate within an ITIL framework to assist in the delivery of second and third level Incident Management and provide improvements to the SharePoint solution design & architecture for the entirety of NATO’s international operations.

Working as part of a team and mentoring more junior members the Support Engineer will need to be comfortable working with an international and demanding customer base to create, report, track and close tickets across NATO’s international locations.

About You

You have a focus on delivering results, meeting customer expectations and able to adapt to, and respond to change. Creating collaborative networks with peers internally and externally is important to you and for your success in this role. Further to this, you have:
  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years post-related experience. Or a secondary educational qualification with 5 years post-related experience;
  • ITIL V3 or V4 Foundation certification;
  • Knowledge and working experience of:
    • Microsoft SharePoint Server (2013/2016/2019) administration and troubleshooting;
    • Microsoft SQL Server (2008/2012/2014/2016) administration and troubleshooting by T-SQL;
    • Microsoft Windows Server Systems;
    • Windows Workstation client Operating Systems;
    • Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy Objects;
    • Windows scripting and the PowerShell, specifically applied to SharePoint Portal Servers administration;
  • Practical experience with remote troubleshooting and problem resolution in a secured network environment.
  • Practical experience in the maintenance of classified information systems;
  • Practical experience with virtualization software such as VMWare and Hyper-V Microsoft
  • SharePoint certification;
  • Practical experience in the maintenance of SharePoint replication systems such as iOra Georeplicator or Metalogix;
  • Supported the maintenance of SharePoint FAST search engine (pre and post Microsoft);
