Responsibilities: As our Systems Architect - NMS, you will:
- Collaborate with the other members of the system architecture team, focussing on the management aspects of our satellite networking equipment and platforms
- Build an information model, aligned with management standards and specifications, allowing an operator to manage and control his network
- Collaborate with specialists and architects covering different architecture domains to build a consistent model
- Define system infrastructure for defining stats and events as collected from the different network elements and reported up to the central NMS
- Work with engineering development teams to ensure defined system architecture is implementable, inclusive of effort estimation and test strategy
- Collaborate with other system architects and development teams to work on proof of concepts and early evaluation.
- Work continually with other technical staff to innovate on new solutions, approaches, and enhancements for both current systems and next generation products
- Lead and engage in collaborative technical discussions and meetings related to various aspects of ST Engineering iDirect products. Focus areas are wide ranging and high impact, including network architecture, deployment architecture, capacity management and infrastructure management
- Lead technical discussions and meetings related to various architectural domains covered in ST Engineering iDirect’s products and contribute in your area of expertise
As a prerequisite to become our Systems Architect - NMS, you:
- Hold a master’s degree in engineering or Computer Science
- Have prior experience (5+ years) in the role of a senior engineer or system architect or similar role in a technical development organization, in the capacity of suggesting architectural and design level changes while working collaboratively with other senior engineers and technical staff across the organization
- Have experience with
- The Web Application Architectures and distributed system design
- Integration toolsets managing a variety of networking hardware vendors
- Network infrastructure programmability via API (GraphQL, NetConf/YANG, JSON, XML, YAML, REST, gRPC, Kafka)
- Cloud Native application development best practices, knowledge of micro-services
- Large scale networks and monitoring systems
- OpenAPI and ONF TAPI (is an asset)
- Understand network management protocols, concepts, and enterprise infrastructure services (SNMP, Syslog, NTP, DNS, AAA/LDAP)
- Possess knowledge of
- Open telecom management specifications (TM-Forum, ITU-T)
- 3rd party libraries like SpringBoot, Angular v7/v11, Python Flask and associated test framework
- Modeling languages / Notations like UML, SysML.
- Programming or scripting languages like Python, Java, Javascript, C++, bash, SQL (is an asset)
- Understand networking for Orchestration, Alert, Incident, Problem, Capacity and Performance, Security, and Flow Management
- Possess strong organizational skills, customer service focus, attention to detail, and process orientation
- Thoroughly understand development pipelines, tool integrations and automation
- Understand specific network management systems such as Splunk, OpenNMS, WebNMS, HP OpenView (is preferable)
- Are familiar with separation of concerns w.r.t infrastructure v/s applications and migration of monolithic applications to a micro-services model
- Possess business analysis skills, with the ability to forecast implications and provide consultative recommendations and solutions
- Are able to
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Distill and present information to business community in non-technical terminology
- Set priorities, meet deadlines and manage operational lifecycle
