System Engineer

NATO SECRET Clearance required

Location: Mons

Duration: 6 Month rolling

On-call required

Purpose of the role

As System Engineer you are responsible for a solution that provides access to public information access services through managed gateways and also to enable remote users to access the network services and internal resources provided by the public access network and the clients Wide Area Network.

The System Engineer is responsible for technical support to the external clients, assisting them with server, application, networking and hardware problems and standard change requests via phone and email/ticketing. The System Engineer will also be responsible for liaising with 2nd line support onsite engineers onsite and 3rd line support teams. Also the System Engineer will following up the incidents till its successful closure within required SLAs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the solution at customer location
• Interact with the customer’s service desk team to liaise on the issues pertaining our managed solution
• Log & manage the incidents and problems in Remedy ARS
• Physical presence at the client location (job rotation between 8 am and 6 pm)
• Stand-by rotation (on average every 3 weeks) out of normal working hours
• Provide technical support on the incident and problems as per agreed Service Level Agreement
• Advise professionals and Level 3 support of various suppliers
• Prepare & manage service related documentation.
• Present the service status to customer designated Service Manager if required.

Qualifications/skills

• Have a valid work and residence permit for the EU
• Must have a valid NATO security clearance
• Basic working knowledge and experience in system integration area
• Minimum of 3 years working experience in similar environment
• Familiar with the principles or Infrastructure, Platform and Solution as a Service
• Familiar with the principles of SDN, SDDC and NFV
• Educated or professionally qualified in a relevant discipline, technical phone support experience is desired or previous experience of working within a technical support team environment.
• ITIL experience desirable, ideally Foundation Qualified.
• Experience of computer hardware troubleshooting.
• Candidates should possess a natural initiative and pro-activeness to their method of working, be open to new ideas and have a positive outlook.
• A good telephone manner and friendly approach.
• Excellent standard of written and spoken English.
• A driven, committed & flexible approach to work is essential with a personal and technical range of skills to meet the company need.
• Must be a team player but also able to work on own initiative.
• Ability to work well to deadlines and under pressure.
• Good commercial/ business knowledge is essential.
• This role will require working on the customer site between 8 am and 6 pm from Monday to Friday; during nights and week-end participate in an on-call duty rotation (every 3 weeks)
• We prefer the engineer to live in or close to Mons
