NATO CIS Group is looking for a qualified and suitable candidate to fill this post as a temporary staff from January to 31 December 2023. If you meet the requirements described in the job description below and wish to work in a fast paced international environment, this post is for you.
In view of the nature and of the urgency of this temporary position, it is important for candidates to be available for temporary employment as of January 2023. In practice, this implies being in possession of valid NATO security clearance at the time of application, or having been in possession of such a clearance with the possibility to reactivate it swiftly. GENERAL BACKGROUND:
The NATO CIS Group conducts CIS operational planning and provides deployed/deployable CIS services and support in support of NATO military operations and exercises. The NATO CIS Group is located at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) the Headquarters of Allied Command Operations (ACO), one of the two major military commands of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).

Post Context
The J4 Division is responsible for logistic planning and supervision of logistic related activities within NATO Communications and Information Systems Group (NCISG).
The Logistics Plans Branch is responsible for logistics planning and synchronization of logistic related activities within the NCISG.
The incumbent plans and coordinates the provision of Integrated Logistics Support elements for NCSA assigned CIS for NATO operations and exercises.
Reporting Lines
This post reports to OCG LPXX 0010 - Branch Head (Logistics Plans), OF-4
There are no reporting responsibilities.
Principal Duties
The incumbent’s duties are:
- Coordinate technical requirements in support of NCISG existing and future projects, supporting the development and implementation of the DCIS common funded requirements.
- Coordinate with NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) the development of Statement of Works for procurement of new Non-CIS assets (mainly vehicles, trailers, power generators, CIS maintenance shelters, ISO containers etc.).
- Provide technical recommendation related to preventive and corrective maintenance of Non-CIS assets in use by NATO Signal Battalions.
- Support all activities (Operational Live Test & Evaluation/ User Acceptance test, training, logistics, O&M support, documentation, etc.) related to the implementation of new DCIS capabilities within NCISG.
- Provide technical recommendation to improve existing Non-CIS capabilities to fulfil the NCISG operational requirements.
- Provide technical recommendation to improve Non-CIS capabilities, including the provision of quick response and effective problem solving support.
Special Requirements and Additional Duties
The employee may be required to perform a similar range of duties elsewhere within the organisation at the same grade without there being any change to the contract
The incumbent may be required to perform duties elsewhere within the organisation as directed. The incumbent may be required to undertake TDY assignments.
The work is normally performed in a Normal NATO office working environment / Secure office environment with artificial light and air (e.g. Bunker).

Essential Qualifications
a. Professional/Experience
- Experience on coordinating staff work in a NATO or National Organization.
- Experience as a multifunctional serving as a logistic staff at division or below or as a support operations officer.
b. Education/Training
Higher Secondary education and completed higher vocational training in logistics, transport or related discipline leading to a formal technical or professional certification with 3 years function related experience, or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 5 years post related experience.
c. Language
English - SLP 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing).
Desirable Qualifications
a. Professional Experience
- Experience in the field of operation and servicing of wheeled vehicles.
- Experience in the field of operation and servicing of other Non-CIS assets like: power generators, HVAC systems, tents etc.
- Experience in planning and execution phase of maintenance processes.
b. Education/Training
• ITIL Foundation qualification.
• NATO Logistics Introductory Course (LOG-LG-14422) provided by NATO - School Oberammergau (NSO)
• NATO Logistics Operational Course (LOG-LG-24423) provided by NATO - School Oberammergau (NSO)
WHAT WE OFFER
• 38 hours per week schedule;
• 2.5 paid days of leave per month worked;
• Fulfilling working atmosphere in an international and military community;
• Contract period: a maximum of 12 months employment period could be offered, ideally from 1 Jan to 31 Dec 2023.
• Salary: the remuneration of temporary personnel will be specified in their contracts. It is exempt from taxation in the Host Nation.
• Benefits package: temporary personnel are covered by a benefits package which consists of an additional sum of 12% of basic salary for pension purposes + basic medical and accident insurance provided under the NATO Group insurance contract (death and invalidity). The cost for insurance amounts to approx. 9% of basic salary (2/3 payable by the Organisation and 1/3 payable by staff).
• For staff eligible under NATO rules, there is also a dependent child allowance and coverage for dependent children for medical benefits;
