Job description
‘Capacity for Nutrition - National Information Platform for Nutrition (C4N-NIPN)’ is one of three components of the ‘Knowledge for Nutrition (K4N)’ programme. K4N aims to support the European Commission (EC), its partners as well as the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with competence and knowledge to inform nutrition-related programmes and policies through evidence-based approaches and strategies. Being a joint action of the EC and BMZ, C4N aims to strengthen capacities to enhance the knowledge base of the EC, EU Delegations, EU Member States and partner countries to advance the combat against all forms of malnutrition. The two K4N components C4N-Advisory and the C4N-NIPN support the EU to advance the implementation of the EU ‘Action Plan for Nutrition’ and the nutrition perspective of the new “Farm to Fork” strategy as well as the implementation of the NIPN initiative.
Your tasks
- Provide strategic advice considering the C4N-NIPN Global Support function
- Organise and provide technical assistance within the global support to national platforms, including elaboration of Terms of Reference for Technical assistance assignments, backstop consultants and the knowledge management system of C4N-NIPN
- Facilitate collaboration with nutrition data initiatives
- Contribute to C4N-NIPN support of NIPN steering structures, facilitating collaboration between NIPN implementing partners and stakeholders
- Contribute to the provision of technical assistance and support to the Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships and its partners
- Design capacity development measures, facilitate institutional development of multi-stakeholder processes and provide policy advice
- Prepare technical input for communication products such as case studies, reports, presentations, handouts and social media for the visibility of ECs support to NIPN
- Contribute to the management of C4N-implemented country NIPNs
Your profile
- University degree in nutrition, public health, food security, public policy or relevant discipline
- Many years of experience in development cooperation with experience working in non-governmental organisations, international organisations or government bodies
- Several years of experience in food and nutrition security including policy advice, capacity development
- Development of training content and training delivery in partner countries on data analysis skills
- Excellent grasp of the linkages between all forms of malnutrition and food security in external assistance as well as in the international nutrition landscape
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in establishing good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at national and global levels
- Team orientation, flexibility within a rapidly changing environment, with a high degree of intrinsic motivation to achieve results and to deliver goal-oriented results on time
- Fluency in English and French; Good German and Spanish skills are an asset
