The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) is the world’s largest organisation of healthcare professionals dedicated to fighting heart disease. It helps more than 95,000 cardiologists from 150 countries expand the boundaries of cardiovascular medicine so people can lead longer, healthier lives.
The ESC publishes a dozen scientific journals, an array of textbooks and the latest clinical practice guidelines. It provides continuing medical education through webinars and classroom courses and hosts the summit of cardiovascular science each August - ESC Congress - which attracts 31,000 heart specialists and delivers over 4,500 of the latest abstracts.

The European Society of Cardiology within its Advocacy Department in Brussels is actively looking for a talented Regulatory Affairs Coordinator for a permanent contract.
ESC Advocacy leverages the knowledge, network and influence of the cardiology profession to promote policy, regulation and partnerships that contribute to an environment favourable to cardiovascular health.

The Regulatory Affairs Coordinator serves as senior staff member of the ESC Advocacy Division, within which he/she is tasked with the design and implementation of initiatives aiming at:
- increasing the profile of cardiovascular health with decision-makers
- contributing ESC scientific expertise in support of evidence-based policymaking
- influencing EU policy and regulation relevant to cardiovascular disease
Main responsibilities:
- Deliver the Advocacy strategy in alignment with the ESC Strategic Plan
- Act as Advocacy expert advisor towards ESC community, with a proactive role in anticipating needs and opportunities by following closely ESC activities and analysing the European policy and regulatory environment
- Manage assigned ESC Advocacy Committee(s), Task Force(s), Projects and Initiatives, including implementation of action plans, as well as monitoring outcomes and reporting
- Formulate ESC Advocacy positions drawn on ESC knowledge and resources for the promotion of cardiovascular health, and the positioning of ESC as a leading authority in the European policy arena
- Assist ESC volunteers in providing policymakers and stakeholders with strategic input for the formulation of evidence-based policy aimed at the promotion of cardiovascular health
- In conjunction with the ESC communications team, implement communication activities that enable effective communication of ESC Advocacy directed to the ESC community, as well as ensure effective engagement with external audience (policymakers, stakeholders..)
- Build and maintain relationships with key Advocacy contacts (eg policymakers, regulators, sister societies, stakeholders) and partnerships (Alliances) to advance ESC Advocacy objectives
- Support the ESC leadership and volunteers in undertaking advocacy and representational functions
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
Requirements:
Hardskills:
- Minimum five years of experience in advocacy and EU affairs with excellent knowledge of EU policy making
- University level education, preferably in an area related to European studies, law or political sciences, or alternatively with a scientific background
- Experience in the health sector, with good understanding of policy and regulation in pharmaceutical and/or medical devices strongly desired
- Excellent knowledge of English (both spoken and written); with fluency in French being an asset
Softskills:
- Very good analytical skills, being capable of understanding and explaining complex concepts to a diverse audience
- Be well organised and a team player, with flexibility to adapt to a wide variety of tasks and activities
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
- Preferably, having budget management experience
