Janssen Research & Development seeks to bring creative and effective treatments in six therapeutic areas: neuroscience, cardiovascular diseases and metabolism, infectious diseases, immunology, oncology and pulmonary hypertension. In these areas, Janssen aims to address and solve unmet medical needs through the development of small and large molecules, as well as vaccines. As an Associate Scientist in Oncology at Janssen, you will be a key member of a dynamic and collaborative team, responsible for elucidating the mode of action of a novel target for the treatment of cancer. Specifically, the research will be focused on immune and targeted therapy in hematological malignancies. We are looking for highly motivated candidates that shows initiative and the ability to work semi-independently. The ability to deliver reproducible high-quality results, and troubleshooting skills in assay biology and experimental design, are essential. She/he needs to have a sense of urgency, be well organized, and adhere to project timelines. Experience in hematological malignancy drug discovery, specifically in targeted small molecule therapies and/or knowledge of myeloid malignancies, is necessary. Experience in epigenetic regulators in leukemia is a plus.Key Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrate the ability to design, perform, interpret, troubleshoot and report complex data.
2. Ability to perform tissue culture is a must. Cell/molecular biology skills desired: FACS, Quantigene assay, leukemia differentiation assay, immune-based assays, transfections, transductions, western blotting, siRNA/shRNA, and qRT-PCR.
3. Experience working in immune cell biology and ex vivo sample analysis is a plus.
4. Experience in drug discovery is beneficial (large or small molecules, PK/PD, understanding of drug properties, assay / model development, drug testing, etc).
5. Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple experiments simultaneously.
6. Demonstrate the ability to analyze and present data in professional format
