Hanbury, established in September 2016, is a fast-growing strategic advisory firm that manages all aspects of communications from public affairs to PR, helping client organisations tell their story. We provide political analysis and insight to help businesses navigate a time of global change, building winning campaigns that shape public opinion.

This is a new role to support the newly enlarged Brussels team with its ambitious plans for 2022 and beyond. The Business Development & Events Associate, reporting into the Senior Business Development Consultant, will play a key role in driving this growth. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven individual, a natural communicator with a meticulous mindset to deepen their experience of business development.

The Role

We are looking to bring on board someone that excels in fast paced environments, to work alongside partners and directors. You will have had internships or a first role in events and business development, be a self-starter, a creative problem-solver with an eye for detail and a gift for organisational excellence.

Responsibilities include:

Business Development and Sales Activity

  • Identifying prospective clients through research, finding contact information and relevant information on business needs
  • Contacting prospective clients using creative prospecting strategies, including cold-calling, to schedule quality visits with senior level contacts.
  • Trials and customer support; setting up trials and new users in the CRM system, customer support for both trials and existing client accounts
  • Data entry and BD metrics including updating SalesForce and assisting with gathering and reporting on user engagement metrics.
  • Promote localised content to support our go-to-market strategy and messaging, working effectively with directors, partners and design partners

Events

  • Support on in person and online events
  • Coordinating, creating and proofing event collateral in partnership with business leads
  • Supporting the business leads on pre-event speaker briefing and oversight of the moderator digital platform training as necessary
  • Support on basic event slides (speaker introduction etc)
  • Occasional participation in on-site event direction; suppliers liaison, venue set-up, briefing, attendee registration, technical event producer on the day

Experience and Skills

Essential:

  • Some exposure through internships or permanent employment to events, business development or sales is needed, ideally in a business-to-business setting
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages, including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Google Drive
  • A team player, self-motivated and deadline-driven, capable of multitasking
  • Versatile and proactive, a can-do attitude and the ability to work in a small team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English and one other European language (at least)
  • A commitment to delivering excellent client service with a meticulous level of detail

Desirable:

  • Experience of managing sales tools such as Salesforce, Zoom platforms and knowledge of event management software
  • Exposure to digital marketing (data, SEO, reports - Google Analytics) and experience of LinkedIn and Twitter
  • Previous experience in managing WordPress websites
  • Previous experience in communications or public affairs agencies a bonus. Similarly exposure to sectors such as financial services and professional services, welcomed.
