The Category Manager Consumables drives and implements strategic planning and category management for all categories involving the supply of standard goods or consumables. This role secures up-to-date market knowledge and defines category strategies. In this position, you are responsible for sourcing, negotiation, supplier management but also supervise the R2P process to ensure on time and full compliant delivery of a large volume of goods.

Your responsibilities

  • You report to the Lead Category Manager of the General Goods & Services procurement category;
  • You lead a team of 10+ people consisting of both category buyers and operational buyers;
  • You are in charge of optimizing a spend of about 25-30m euro in you categories;
  • You develop strong partnership with operational departments being the preferred partner and support for all matters related to sourcing of consumables, supplier management and contract management;
  • You lead cross-functional teams with focus on building extensive catalogs by type of material with standard items used by several internal clients;
  • You are directly involved in the definition of the category strategy and implementation of next steps with business stakeholders and sponsors;
  • You conduct market research (knowledge of suppliers, state-of-the-art technology, etc.);
  • You lead and manage tenders, select suppliers, conclude and maintain framework agreements;
  • You develop and sustain supplier relationships with key suppliers in order to realize TCO optimization;
  • You centralize category experience, methodology and category strategy implementation, incl. related documents;
  • You supervise the operational execution of the frame agreements and the spot purchases according to the defined process;
  • You partner with the CoE team to investigate and select the best tools and solutions to optimize the P2P process and supervise the implementation for the categories in scope.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration / Applied Economics, Business Engineer or Supply Chain Management, or equal by experience;
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in a procurement management role;
  • Experience with the creation of catalogs and material master data process knowledge is necessary;
  • Strong analytical skills; happy to work with figures;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Excel and PowerPoint, knowledge of specific procurement software suits and reporting tools is an asset;
  • Team management skills with a positive attitude, hands-on mentality and high level of integrity;
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of Dutch & other languages is an asset;
  • Change management and strong communication skills;
  • Motivation to work in a dynamic and international environment;
  • Drive for ownership and results.
